RB25 vs. VG30

OK, so I've been beating the living shit out of my VG... I have done 14 events since March 2010 when I started sliding including skid pads, and a SHIT LOAD of street sliding when I first started. Mind you, I've been doing this on blown turbos, lol. But, all good things must come to an end, my poor little VG spun a bearing, which I believe happened at PBIR :(. Idk if it's cause I ran low on oil from my shitty stock turbos, or from having the rpm limiter set 800rpm higher than stock... lol

So, the point of this thread is for opinions, I feel very confident sliding with the VG, torque is great and it makes pretty decent power for being mostly stock (around 365whp). I think they're great motors and if taken care of can last a whileeee. But I've been toying with the idea of an RB25 swap, and no lie... I only want it for the sound, lol. Good thing about the RB25/6 is that I can use my upgraded driveshaft, z32 trans, Spec clutch, and Nismo 615's. But I've heard that RB25's oil pumps SUCK... Is this true? Also, it would have to stay stock for a while due to funds. If I just rebuilt the VG, I would have a new motor which is capable of safely making 600whp on pump, and I would also be upgrading the turbos which is the only mod I need to put me there :). What would you guys do in my position? And please, look past the the whole "waaaaaaaaa, VG's are hard to work on"... THEY'RE NOT.

If I were in your position I'd rebuild the VG instead of going through the trouble of swapping in the RB25 due to cost.
You'd end up with a VG beast for the same price.

yo get that rb for me please... i heard the price for you!!! lol and then go vg... or you could be my cheese wedge twin!!!! wooooooooo do whatever is gunna make you more power i say...

VGs are BEAST motors. Stick with it and do it right. RB is more trouble than it's worth.

If you are that desperate to get an RB, buy a GTS-t and give me the Z32.

I'm not a big fan of the VG30 but i would do a Vg30 i will explain tomorrow when I'm sober

Sal build the VG. Parts are easier to access. And yes, RB series motors have a tendency to have fail sauce oil pumps but you would just have to upgrade it for reliability.

parts at the counter from most parts places , displacement , power potential , you already have it, , i'm really happy with my rb25...but a vg is a very nice motor to have ..

this..also your already comfy with it and i assume you already know your way around that motor. so id say rebuild and spend monies on turbos

Fuck rbs, there ghey! and no one like them.....

ON another note, u have a vg and rebuild+turbos will be less than a rb swap....

i say SAVE money, Stay VG!
