RB25 vs. VG30

i think motor swaps work great when the car you have has a shit motor like a single cam, if you've already got a great motor, rebuild it. especially if you have tiny hands and don't mind working on it.

build the vg. builds always cost more and take longer than they really do.

and itll be stock and not be as hard to figure shit out whenever some stupid issue goes bad

RB25 would be a severe downgrade from a vg30dett imo. RB26 might be worth it but then you have a higher COG and more weight over your front suspension. It would be a crime to put anything other than a v6 or v8 in that chassis if you're racing/drifting it.

vgs are a great motor, id have to disagree with bill. harvey is just unlucky as shit with vgs lol

i have a vg30de/TT and its runs amazing and has yet to screw me over, and all the bad luck sal has had with vgs have been with external problems like bad tunes and blown turbos. honestly bro you got it right this time u just didnt check your oil. if you put a built vg in your car and new turbos so that you dont have to be checking the oil evrey other day youll be fine.

VG power!!!!!

vg's never last!! Btw sal how many motors have you gone threw already, before this one.

This will be my third VG, but the motor is not to blame in either case of the ones I've had before.

The first one ran for TEN MONTHS with 30* of timing and a 14.5 AFR at full throttle with 16psi of boost, no wonder my stock ass car was keeping up with Vipers and C6 Z06's... lol. Not many motors will last long running like that, and I beat the shit out of it too. It drove home fine on the way back from PBIR with zero compression in cylinder #6. The guy I bought my tune from sent me a tune for an NA VG... -____-

This one I've ran hard as hell too, it ran on the above tune for 3 weeks until I put it on the dyno and found the tune was the problem. Driving to and from the 14 events I've driven since March with absolutely no problem along with lots of street sliding, but after PBIR I had to add an entire quart of oil for it to show up on the dipstick... No oil + 75-90mph entries = fucked. I also had my rev limiter set 800rpm above stock for some reason.

So I'm a fucking moron, if I would have taken better care of my shit I'd be fine.

damn sal kinda sucks... but i feel your pain on this one, if it wasnt for me not checking the lower orings before i put the injectors back on i woulda still been driving my car!

Lots of times those o-rings are damaged from the installation...but how did that = blown engine?
