i had the same thing for the longest time on my z and i went crazy trying to figure it out, i went through like 3 diffs thinking that was the problem. then i tightened up my traction arm and got the car aligned and most of it went away. idk how low your car is but the lower you go the more you have to lengthen the traction arm to keep your suspention tight in the rear.
I hear it when im shifting gears and and im leaving off in 1st gear.. it used to be alot worse but the solid bushings made some difference but now its starting to come back.
No, I dont think im being very clear. When i first purchased the car the rear end cluncked alot and loud! I check it out and the subframe bushing were bad so when I would switch gears it would smack the body of the car, then the diff bushings went bad and started having alot of play in the bushings, so i swapped those out and the clunking stopped for a bit. Now the clunking is back. The bushings would just cause vibration and a winding sound, not clunking
Something is probably loose in the rear check all of the bolts on the subframe, diff, arms, hubs...everything in the rear. Could also be an axle going bad
i have the same issue and i have subframe spacers, it fixed the prob a lil but i still hear it.
if i put the car in gear but hold the brake and gently play with the clutch i hear the clunk like on the diff..... idunno wdf it is. sooo anoying. just hope nothing brakes off one day on the highway haha
I had the same bushings also on a welded diff i drove with that clunk for a long time check tranny mount also it could b ur just hearind the load being put to the diff bc its not slipping or theres no room for play
ps i used to beat on my shit bad n everything was fine !
same thing i had, if u have a chattering sound somthings lose(tension rod, bearings, bad diff ect) if its just a clunk when give and take away gas its brob the drive shaft bearing.
I had the same problem. Well, sounds the same. Torque everything down with weight on the wheels. I used ramps. My car is real low as well so I had to use a jack to get them onto the ramps. I'm not sure where I heard it from but to torque things down properly you've got to have them in the position they operate in, which is to say with weight on it. Try that
