replacing ball joints

im rebuilding my whole suspension and am replacing my s14 front ball joints
i got the lower a-arm off and the clips off the ball joints
would i be able to just hammer the old joints out and put the new ones on

or should i stop by a shop and have them press the ball joints off and on
just wondering how everybody does it
