^^ Ok, I guess these must've been "ridin hard" as well? Besides, that "ridin hard" excuse doesn't justify anything considering that these wheels will be drifted and also "ridin hard".

No thanks, Ill pass on Rotas... :ugh:

On a race car, if a wheel comes in contact with something while racing the wheel will be replaced. Each set of "good" wheels will be inspected or replaced after the season is over.

Hmmm....Yea, Rota don't look so good.

Altho when TJ wrecked his car, a GrandMarquies ran right into the wheel and it didn't budge....we actually sold them...hrmmmm I wonder if those red wheels are the ones that were sold.

Because sportmaxes aren't copies of wheels that were initially designed to be ultra lightweight and forged. KA-Tony is absolutely right to distrust this brand and so should anybody else who's considering buying them. This isn't about hating a brand, its about personal safety.

FWIW, the first incident ever reported of a rota separating from the hub happened to a friend of mine at homestead. He had subzero model rotas (copies of CP0-35's - mega light forged wheels from racing hart) on an 02 WRX and was on his second track event (these were track only wheels, he actually had a set of CP0-35's he used for the street) when they came apart on the back straight going into the left sweeper (forget which turn number). It happened to the passenger front wheel and almost caused his car to flip. I was in the car btw, he hit nothing at all. Further inspection of the wheels showed hairline cracks on every single other wheel on almost every spoke.

The bottom line IMHO is that I'm sure most Rota's are fine and probably all are OK for the streets. BUT if you're buying a Rota for the track, be sure it isn't copied from a thin spoked wheel that was engineered to be ultra light weight and strong and don't put race tires on them. They just don't seem to be able to handle the combined stress.

so what about those million dollar magnesium OZ,Enkie, work etc wheels that i see fall apart on the track all the time?

this isnt what im talking about but this is funny, btw it happened to tony stewart at a 24HR race about 3 years ago, he was on a caution lap with about 3 laps to go and his wheel just wanted to not be on the car anymore now i dont remember if it has a loose lugnut or it broke off.

Wow, if you're even attempting to argue the build quality of Work vs Rota you should just put your thumb in your ass and call it a night.

No one is saying that there is a perfect wheel that will never break. However, its become more of a common problem with Rotas then it has with other wheels.

"You get what you pay for"

^^True story... :bigthumbu

I wasnt arguing that expensive manufactors are worthless personally i think BBS is the best in the world, but if rota was that bad they would be out of business?
I Personaly thought the REAL differeance between the wheels is one is alighter forged metal and the other is cast cheap metal, but theres millions of cast wheels even OEM and they dont really break unless you really hit something.
I dont know, i have never had a rota wheel, nor do i want a rota wheel, but theres millions of people who use them, and word of mouth is the best advertisement.

lol i had posted in that thread i remember! i made a snide comment like "wow those fake honda wheels look real nice" and they all got upset  Guess they don't know for less than that price you can get some diamond racing wheels with an even more negative offset and wider too. also i didnt check but did they finally order any? i member that thread was months old when they were still trying to get an order and have someone put them on their z to see how it'd look.
