S-afc2

Its never worth it unless you are fine tuning a ROM tune. It's a band-aid for real tuning.

because SAFC-2 is THE WORST way to tune a motor. Its tricks your ecu, and all it takes is for your ecu to make a bad calculation. Lots of people running SAFC-2 have blown motors.

Also whoever says they are a tuner and tunes via SAFC-2 I suggest you run, no real tuner would be caught dead fucking with a SAFC-2.

SAFC's can be useful like when fine tuning a rom tune or making minor adjustments to better suit engine modifications. When its the primary tool for tuning an engine capable of numbers far greater than factory is when things get a little sketchy.

dori dori was being polite, a little sketchy in an understatement.

I had an safc in my car and I would compensate for ignition timing by retarding the distributor. It sucks so horribly over 9 psi with out being able to tune the ignition table. When I had the boost set at 7psi i would make 7 by about 3500. But when I took out enough timing to run 12psi the engine was not able to make the CFM to spool up the turbo as quickly*. with max boost at 12psi it would take until about 3850-3900rpm before it made 7psi and peaked 12 at 4200.

*- As much ignition retard that I had to run at 12psi, the engine could not make the power naturally aspirated. Horsepower is equal to airflow, the more power your engine makes naturally aspirated the more Cubic Feet per Minute of air it will flow. You need airflow to spin the turbo up until it starts making boost, if you have 8-9 degrees pulled the engine is not going to make the power, not going to flow the air, and in result the turbo made peak boost at a later rpm. This is why tuning an originally naturally aspirated ECU for a turbo application with out any kind of ignition retard device sucks.

safc might be okay if you are turning the boost up on turbo engine with the stock turbo(s) but I stay away.

Tuned ECU's are good stuff, the car is so much more fun to drive.

safc suck AZZ GET A FUCKING ROM TUNE DON'T CUT CORNERS DON'T BE FUCKING JEWISH NOW AND THEN SPEND THE FUCKING GOLD ON A NEW MOTOR OPEN THE JEW BAG AND DROP SOME PENNIES

Ka24coupe nailed it. I would wather spend the time and dough for a tune/standalone system on a regular motor witout refreshing done to it, than a decked out fully built motor and running it on a S-AFC or even a Nissan ECU. I would rather use a Honda ecu.

Ive had my sr tuned with a s-afc on 15lbs for almost 2 years and it hasnt blown........

The key is knowing how to tune with one.

like 4000rpm doesnt really mean 4000rpm it means more like 4300rpm cause the s-afc has a slight delay on the fuel curve.

Thats wideband readout delay, not part of the safc. Depending on how fast the engine accerates through the rpm range, the actual afr readout will be delayed by the time that the exhuast leaves the cylinder and reaches the wideband o2 sensor.

Its hard to blow up an sr with a stock turbo at 15lbs if you keep the oil changed.
