S. FL Drifters! Come drift with us! Drift Fury in S. FL 4.8.07.

i liked doing this...has a downshift, plenty of breaking and if you do a second lap then an upshift coming off the infield as well...if i was any good i would've been able to actually link it. most of you were able to do it

Hate to brake it to you but that lay out wont work since the only two infield corners that are paved are the ones facing the straight sections not the turns

Hrmmmm I have driven all the way across the infield there and I dont remember any off-roading involved....... did they change something??? I saw the plastic barriers set up for the March 10th event.....

ya I have been able to slide that layout that sean proposed before at previous events, unless they changed something. You could enter the infeild anywhere you wanted to and exit where ever.

I was there once when they had plastic barriers setup for the go karts, they move those around.

No the set up is the same put I'm pretty sure the way you draw the map wasn't the way you drove it. when you go infield from the banking, the infiedl x turn is paved from inside the turn to make the turn not so sharp 90 degrees, basically you have more room, so you wont drop a tire. when you go infield as you draw you will drop a tire either front or rear since the turn is way over 90 degrees has no pavement on the inside of the turn as the otherones have, so you can't carry speed back to the track. this will cause you to go straight. unless you drop a tire and after every run they spend two hours cleaning the track.

Looks like I will be making this event after all :D . All praise Rick and his never ending knowledge of oil pumps lol...

Yea I remember it was tight going that way though the infield but i didn't mind or make a mess. But if you have 60 people doing it I could see some dirt being tossed up and infield destruction taking place.

we have about 15 signed up so far. I am out of town and working on wireless when I have time and a connection. I should be home wed or thurs. I will get it all together then.

BTW, Harry, I lost our phone at the gas station :( call you soon.

Yes. But it wont affect you getting your license.... there's no set number of licenses. As long as you meet the 12 required points you get one.

Well that's not completely accurate. you don't have to make 12 points. Tracy and Dan can adjust what they feel is appropriate for the course. In VIR Dado scored a 10 and two 10.5's and he was awarded a license. In Nashville Chanin scored an 8 and two 9.75's took first and a license. Ron scored two 10's and a 9 and got second and a license. Matt Paul socred a 0 and two 9's and was awarded a license.

So based on course and difficulty, the previous stated 12pt minimum doesn't exactly hold. it originally was 12 pts and 12 pts only, but changed. They can exception when they see the need to. That's information gathered directly from Dan and Tracy and through posts on their website about judging.

"Tentatively, If during qualifying you receive a score of 12 points or above, you will have earned a NOPI Drift license (We reserve the right to change the point break at which a NOPI license will be given. This is decided on a per event basis)."

Just an FYI for you guys. Hope to see all you guys there. Good luck!!!!
