i installed a new pilot bearing, throw out bearing, new fork, new slave cylinder, new stock clutch and a donated supposedly stage 3 pressure plate. the tranny went in smooth and bolted up fine but it wont shift through gears. i can move it to the right and into 5th gear but no othere gears and it wont even move to the left in neutral. im not sure if the problem is at the bell housing or at the shifter assembly. any help is great thanks.
Quick question.Did you change the bushing that sits on the crank to a 5 speed bushing?I heard that can definately cause those types of problems.Besides that maybe you should try bleeding the system a little bit more.
Did you try and shift through the gears before you installed it? I've changed 5 KA trannys, bought a few where it would do this same thing. When you are done checking the dumb shit, pull the tranny back out and remove the front plate where the input shaft goes into the motor (like 5-6 12mm bolts) and check the 3 shift rods, making sure they are all flat with the plate, that assures the tranny is in full neutral. Then try and shift.
i will pull the tranny tomorrow and check to see if it goes through the gears and then ill go from there and check the rods behind the front cover thanks! Also i know theres a ball and spring in a hole where the shifter plate bolts down. can there be a problem in that area???
That spring ball system is for reverse lock-out so u can't go 5th straight to reverse. So if you're intelligent enough to not do that, you don't necessarily need it.
yea that was the problem the rods were out of place thanks for that info. now on the front cover can i use grey silicone to seal it or do i need that gasket i have the oil seals.....
