SA R34 Ruled out for FD competition

^^^^Yeah, but RSR/Scion probably had every modification petitioned to be allowed to run Formula D. The Super Autobacs R34 just showed up to Round 1 without any notice. There suspension set up was suspicious and they didn't even ask to petition the mods done to the car. That is what I got out of this mess.

either it has...or it hasnt...... since you do....or you do not..... lol sounded like shakespare is some parts lol

Fuck formula D. Honestly it should be alot more like d1. They should be allowed to use what they want to set up their car for their driver. Then again the driver has specific wants for the car as in how it should feel and act. Yet they let a fucking TC that was converted to RWD im pretty sure thats not OEM... The only FD team that i like is Drift alliance the do shit right lol.

Toyota's claim was that they were going to produce an AWD version of the tC, but yet no such model of the tC has been made. In addition, what I see is the FD is basically saying if you wanna build an illegal car throw me some money, ill say its approved, and you can drive. This is why I prefer D1, none of this bull. D1 FTMFW, FD FTMFL

I like the fact that teams can't do whatever they want, and I'd rather see the cars stay close to being street driven cars. I wanna see no sequential transmissions, no fwd/rwd conversions, engine/trans/suspension in factory locations, etc. When shit starts getting out of hand, only the big teams can compete, public loses interest, then the big teams' sponsors pull-out, and then drifting shits the bed.

Thats true. Its nice to have that limit and the d1 series has a competition like that. You have to have a full interior and stock parts. The Blitz Skyline competes in it.

I disagree b/c then where do you draw the line? Plenty of teams have non-factory backed sponsors yet still wind up with radical cars and swaps. Putting a ceiling on ingenuity will just turn the sport into NASCAR where everybody is the same. Maybe to a grassroots competitive drifter that seems appealing but the crowds would grow tired in no time.

As for Formula D's response - they're basically saying they're being tight wads b/c they can and its all based on a technicality. I think its weak sauce.

i dont think he wants a ceiling, he just doesnt want them to allow cars to eventually be made 'from scratch' as to not resemble a real car. Like prototype vs GT classes... prototype is a 100% pure engineered race car and GT is still a recognizable car (uber mods there too in that kind of racing). I dont wanna see a ceiling either but i dont want unlimited modding because teams will get SO outrageous that the ONLY way to compete will be the 30-40 guys with 20mil contracts and lets no 'way in' for others.

well thats why you still have different series going on. Id imagine FD will become nothing but big names and NOPI will be the more grassroots drivers.

I think we're getting far fetched here! I'm talking suspension mods and you're talking tube frame chassis. I understand the point that was trying to be made and to an extent I agree - but to a larger extent I disagree. I like the radical cars in D1 and watching the drivers push "past the limit" is bad ass.

eh, it's whatevs...

That's pro drifting, who cares?? Do whatever you want, and tear it up at your local track.

I mean I think it's bad and good: good because TOO MUCH fabrication leads to higher priced development/cars/etc. then nobody can play w/o 100K's of money (aka that goddamned Sky)

bad because innovation keeps the sport fresh, remember Braille's RWD Integ?? LOL

FD and D1 aren't that much different, I think D1 is looser b/c they have D1SL, and I think that's what FD needs, but it won't work. The US has too many different emissions regs to work for a single standard. If D1SL came to the US my car would be a contender because it's Cali SMOG legal (tested), fucking slow as shit. Then you guys here are all SR and KAT street legal, no fair, I call no homo.

Don't sweat it, it's just FD. Roo and SA will lay low for the rest of the season, and then reapply same setup next season. Since they weren't killing it nobody will care TOO much; orrrrrr, they'll pull out that old-ass Cefiro of theirs, and run that.

Damn well said for the new guy. Welcome.
