Shakes at 65

yea i go to a technical high school and im in the auto tech program. i have one year left till i graduate. and at my school my school is ron widdoss, bald guy that usually does the starting line at the ter tech events and partner w/ harri.

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally GONE!!!! well i took my car to my schools shop and balanced the tires. i knew to rims where bent but didnt think it would throw it that off. so what i had to do is put a total of six weights on one tire, would of been less if we had 3 ounce wieghts. i also found that my oil leak from under the engine might be a crank shaft seal. i also had a small gas leak but i couldnt find the source of that so im just gonna replace the gas tank and fuel pump gasket. im also gonna inspect the supply and return lines to make sure none are leaking. YES!! finally some good news

if a warped rotor is suspected, and you just happen to have access to tools in an auto shop/know a mechanic, get a hold of a runout gauge:

i know how to use one, but have never needed to.

Yea thats just a dial indicator with a x and y axis adjustment rods with a magnet on the end. Stick the magnet to a steel piece on the frame or sub frame and set the dial to 0 then rotate the wheel by hand to see how much its out......... An easier test that anyone can do is to place a stationary object, a sharpened pencil or another sharp pointer near the edge of the rotor and spin the rotor by hand, if there is a visible amount of run out usually .010" or more. You would have to get the rotors resurfaced and possibly replace brake pads.

If this shake stuff only happens at 65mph with out braking id call unbalanced wheels first.

blah i just skipped to page 2 and saw it was figured out. okay have fun.
