Ok in the Countyline thread abunch of people are stating we should have to pay. And others stating no.

So instead of filling that thread with that I made on.

I feel that we shouldn't. I dont mind paying but if I can save $$ for tolls or gas thats a +. I mean I dont drive in the event. But I do travel 4+ hours to a event then turn around and drive back.

Now I am freelance, so I dont get paid to go to these events. I have no sponcers. So everything is out of pocket. And I will start renting lenes so thats even more funds towards shots.

Discuss.

I agree media should not have to pay... several reasons but most of the photographers out there are trying to get more publicity to drifting and most that i talk are free lance therefore everything is out of pocket one less expense the better

I agree. Media has so many other expenses to cover. An entry fee is the last of what they really want to worry about.

I want to drift, but should I have to pay? I provide the spectators a good show.

I have many expenses such as tires, maintenance, wear and tear, not to mention the entry fee.

Obviously drifters vs photographers are two completely different proportions, but my main point is that for $5... come on. It's $5. Spectators pay twice as much at most events just to spectate.... you get full access everywhere and get to do what you like to do: snap pictures.

No one is dragging you there. That's bottom line.

its a drifting event not a photography event i dont see why they have to pay. if anything there putting out the images for people to see the actual track and to get more people involved and wanting to get out there...sometimes word of mouth just doesnt do it...seeing is believing

yea but erick your paying to drift at a drift event. them paying a fee wont really get your entrance fee lowered or put money in your pocket.

plus if they dont go how will you keep getting awesome sigs like that.

you added as i accepted it -_-

If I don't go, how will the track owners get the spectators and make money?

The drifters only cover the initial track fees to break even.

Basically, what I am saying is that I do very much appreciate what photographers do. They provide me with the media I need to keep my sponsors happy.

And I'm a broke ass fucker too... I drift... seriously... anyone that does that on a monthly basis knows how much it costs and for the average person it does put a dent in your pocket.

And even then I would not complain about $5.

Now... a photographer to complain about $5??!?! Come on. Seriously?

Can drifters take pictures of themselves will they are driving, NO....so without media personel, there is no pics......let them in for free....its Just $5 so no big deal.....make money off the spectators!!!!

No Catch 22 here...the most they will lose will probably be around $75

erick man your my boy and all but that comment seems a bit cocky dont you think. its the sport of drifting people go to watch everyone not just you! if you dont go to the event i doubt all those people will stop showing up.

^

maybe catch 22 is the wrong way to say it.. but i do see ericks point.. i still stand my ground on the fact that they shouldn't have to pay

event coordinators need to contact more sponsors, we provided staff shirts and still had to pay and we do media as well, no complaints, but as a sponsor we should pay and when we do get that big, If I pay, my photographer shouldn't, but we should be on the flyer and announced on the mic as many times as any sponsor, and have a range of banners around the track. Grassroots is all good with me but if these events want to reach more spectators to cover the funds, the marketing should be done accordingly, or US as drifters and supporters of the sports should print out fliers and give it to everybody we see a month prior to the event, which is what we've done in the past. so yeah we all can support and help the track that let us drift, make some money to keep the track running....

Sometimes more, Some of us travel from the east coast or even north florida just to shoot at a event.

5$ is no big deal Ill just add it to the tax write off

But I do enjoy for shooting at no cost. Its nice, and anyway I usually get a bite at the track or some water..and they sometimes rape us on the cost of water.

With sponcered events where people put up money, yes there should be alot of things. Esp from the announcer. I dont know how many times I have been to Bradenton Motorsports park or Even NOPI and all i hear is Thanks Coke, Thanks APC, thanks who ever alot of times. And banners all over the place.

When I say "me" I mean the drifters in general. Just like half the photographers have been saying "I" shouldn't have to pay.

And again, look at the track owner's perspective. Anyone with a digital camera can show up, claim themselves as media, slide a business card or something to look more "professional" and get in an event for free instead of paying the spectator fee.

Photographers, again: I love all the work you do, and I'd always love to support it, but the only ones getting in for free are you guys. And I'd understand complaining if you guys had to pay as much as the drifters to simply take pictures... gived you have much more access to the track and facilities than a regular spectator does.... but complaining about paying the same (or less) than a spectator to have more access than a spectator is simply absurd.

By that rationale, everyone should just come in with a camera and call themselves a photographer.... they pay less... get to stand in the middle of the field and watch drifting at it's best spot!

To add even more to this: You can say that sometimes drifters get in events for free (particularly some demos). True, but that's usually by invite only... and it's not just anyone that gets in. Those drivers that get invited usually have some sort of background to them... and even though they get in some events for free, they dont go to the "oh I'm good enough so now I'll only go to the events I'm invited to" status. They still pay. Hell... even pro drivers pay for NOPI, Formula D and D1 entry fees. Everyone does.

Again... not trying to be offensive here, but do you guys see where I am getting at?

I also would like to add that I'm not voting on this poll because I don't think it's as black and white.... I dont think they HAVE to pay... but they should if the track owners request a reasonable (spectator or less) fee.

If I'm wrong, correct me, but don't most drift events provide a payout you can win for drifting? I mean, I don't compete in events, but I'm pretty sure you can benefit from the events when you're a drifter. Given, yes, photographers benefit their portfolio with pictures from your event, but they won't put a watermark on there for you like they would at a DriftFury event because they didn't have to pay. Nor will they come to your events anymore.
