Around December I started collecting vintage cameras. First I got a beautiful 1965 Nikon Nikkormat N SLR ($54 shipped) and a pristine 1967 Voigtlander Vitoret DR Rangefinder ($26 shipped) for Christmas from my mom and grandmother. I was showing my mom online other cameras I wanted how I just missed out on a tested working Voigtlander Brillant TLR for $25. When I showed her the picture of the TLR she said "Oh [my grand parents] used to have one like that back in Cuba. They bought it back in 1948 right before [my aunt] was about to be born so they could take baby pictures" and she called her into the room to see the picture. When she saw it she said (in Spanish) "Oh yeah! I just gave that to [my aunt] last week". My mom and I were like "What?!". My mom had no idea that she had the camera in the closet, in the case, in a plastic bag for 40 something years. Apparently they left it behind when they came from Cuba but some other relatives brought it with them when they came. I called my aunt to ask her what the deal with the camera was and she said that she just wanted to hold on to it as decoration and as a family heirloom. I was kind of bummed because I wanted it (a little selfish....maybe lol) but also because I wanted to actually use it and not have it sitting collecting dust. Well to my surprise one day my aunt calls me and says If you want the cameras (my great uncle also gave my grandmother an old camera) they are yours as long as you don't sell them, I want them to stay in the family. I was totally cool with that, I love the history behind the TLR and I wouldn't mind having another vintage rangefinder.

Cliff notes: I got some cool vintage cameras from my aunt, check 'em out

1948ish Ciro-Flex TLR (I believe it's a model B)

1960's Petri 2.8 Color Corrected Super (You can always tell if something is made in Japan when the name has a random "Super" thrown in it lmao)

I'm thinking about cleaning these bad boys up a little bit. Does any one know a place down here that can do it? I'll try to clean the outside of the Petri myself the best I can but its the glass and internal mechanisms that I'm worried about. and the Ciro-flex I just want some one to handle that whole thing, I'm to afraid to fuck it up.

something tells me Zach Hughes will know this

dale doesn't repair cameras.

try southern technical camera or something or other.

i dont know the name right off the top of my head.

Thanks Zach I had a feeling you would know something, I'll try looking em up

god i want the tlr

look em up on eBay bro they are pretty cheap. I mean it is an American TLR, nothing compared to the German ones. I think my grandma said back when she bought it it cost her about 2-3 months paychecks lol crazy.

zack is right, try southern photo, i forget the exact name, lol. at all costs, avoid AAA fotofast down south on US1. the place has some neat stuff but super expensive and i wouldnt trust them for repairs on vintage cameras. to be honest, ive repaired my own vintage cameras, Canonet QL17, Canon A-1, Canon AE-1, and Mamiya RZ67, all without any problems. theres usually somebody online who has done it and made a tutorial with pics.

cute cameras, def. the cheaper alternative to german glass. but they look good, i like the little RF, reminds me of my QL17, small and compact. good to know theres some people here who are interested in film.
