so i sold my corolla.. my pops gave me a 88 camaro because he cant figure out whats wrong with it. so i was thinking of building a drka drift beater out of it? anyone know anyone that drives a camaro for drift... only one ive seen is the falken 68 beast.

should i do such a thing?

or just be afraid of new things like everyone else

have you ever driven and or owned one...btw im not a ricer fag and i think im up for the challenge..
forumla D is nowhere in my sights with this car.. its just something rwd to get stupid in!

do you prefer to drive boats or jet ski's?

sketchy on the solid rear.

i enjoyed drifting my corolla it was a solid rear axlei like how it wears tires super flat
i could build a s13 or another corolla.. i just want to be that guy thats a little different yano? its only 450 lbs more than a s14 anyways

yea, only 450lbs........................... rethink what you just said, yes thats 15% total vehicle weight compared to my 3000lb s14. but a 2500lb s13 has so many more advantages over my car. To each his own. just check out the aftermarket support for road race type suspension links for the camaro \ bushing replacements.

you are right .. i have looked into suspension stuff its pretty pricy.. my main concern is steering right now and from what ive seen its a simple cut and weld job to increase angle.. suspension is my next thought ... plenty of bushings and arms coilovers 4 link springs shocks and so on .. i just want something to drive that isnt a twitchy harsh driving car.. i like big cars ..
im willing to bet that it weighs the same as harri's bimmer..and with the motor im looking at getting power shouldent really be an issue..

if you saw someone with a camaro at a drift event tearing shit up tell me you wouldent be like damn..thats cool

<--owned a camaro and slid often. I'm not sure about the 88, but i know my 95 z was easy to get sideways, just a BITCH to keep there. invest heavily in stiffff suspension, and maintain alot. I ended up blowing my heads after about only 2-3 months, but that was also because I was a moron and didn't maintain first, then play. IMO, VERY overlooked car for drift. amazing power, do-able suspension, sick looking car. go for it, i'd love to see some more american cars sliding

thanks rabbit man.. the encouragement i was looking for.. 93 lt1 with a t56 trans is what i was thinking mild cam headwork and headers should make 300 or so whp

i ran it almost stock except for edelbrock long-tubes and a k&N and the bitch got loose anywhere. I was actually kinda scared to add more power until i learned to control the slide first. Go for suspension in my opinion

well pretty much i have to do a motor first.. it has a 6 cyl thats crap but the car was free.. and looks pretty good .

str8, free is always good, lol. LMK if you need help with anything. One thing I've found is that since 99.99999999% of people only use camaros for drag racing, no parts suppliers know shit about suspension for road racing/drift, lol. I called JEGS one night asking about a new rear end i think, and told him i was building it for drift, and he was like "wtf is drift"...almost like that scene out of tokyo drift, lmao.

i have thought about this for a while, when i got some rather good offers to slide a camaro.. look into GroundControl suspension they have something called wheightjacks. weightjacks are basically camaro coilovers. if you call and ask about them, ask them about custom spring rates and such. and i assume with this kit everyone runs Konis so i suggest the same since its practically a proven set up. this pretty much stiffens up99% of the car and you can sit it on the floor, which makes it looks beyond sick IMHO. then i suggest you try some sway bars to kill any little bit of bodyroll that may still be present and some nice wheels and you basically have a bad ass drift car with massive amount of torque. as far as pricey, yes to some it might be a bit more than what they would paybut you also got to take into consideration that this car is not a "popular" car for drifting so the parts you need are not duplicated and produced cheaper. so you gotta go out and get the good stuff right off the bat.

obvoiusly do some more research if your serious becuase that was a very brief overview and the GC website has a lot more info on their suspension parts.

thats just my .2cents

3000 lbs S14? They weigh from 2600-2700 depending if it's a base model or se. My base model(when it was stock) weighs 2600 and the se weighed @ 2669(when it was stock). I dont know how much a s13 weighs but I know they less than a s14. For the guy in the camaro, research the aftermarket for you're car. It's great to be different but it's easier being different while having large aftermarket support. Goodluck w/the project though if anything.

He did point out saying HIS s14, which is equiped with a turbo, intercooler, piping, and all the other things a turbo kit adds in weight. Plus, most car companies weigh their cars in dry weight, which doesnt help in real life at all.

koni's FTW...adjustable and easy to find for my gen at least, not sure about the 88. one more thing i forgot...get a good rear end. yes, muscle guys call it posi-track or just rear end...but its basicaly an LSD. I slid mine until it broke...was never the same without it...one tire burnouts suck, lol

if you want to pick, ive weighed my car with 2 tires, jack, tool box and extra box of shit in the trunk, 1\4 tank of gas and it was 2950 w\ auto transmission. The difference in the manual swap is like -80lbs, and then im sure i can bring -100lbs out of the trunk from when i weighed it. Add me and you still have some thing over 2900 lbs.

Ive also changed some things on the car, so i probably should weigh it again, I wont expect it to be less then 2900 w\ me in it. LOL then the roll cage is going to be about 95lbs of steel. FUCK

I've owned 2 F-bodies.... I had a 92 V6 RS that i used to try to slide around Hialeah speedway...that was fun for attempting it... .but i wouldnt recomend it for the long run...thing felt like it was coming into peices. when i got the car nothing was wrong with it... after i was done, exhaust leaks started to apear, freeze plugs blew out... front end felt like it was gonna come LOOSe lol, well i'd suggest MAJOR chassis re-enforcement. Strut tower support braces, plus all the othe braces that come for the car...
over all I would Love the Camaros and plan to get another one but Make SURE its a V8 5spd with a posi (Z-28 or an IROC-Z28)
my second car was an 89 IROC badass Simple to slide easy nice torque/power ratio right out the box... make sure the car is healthy before you beat it... thats all i gotta say.

You should check out : www.powerslideways.com For all the info you NEED to know about sliding these cars... have fun with your F-body.

wow thanks guys .. as far as a diff i plan on running a spool with a 4.30 rear gear.. i know i could jsut weld it but why not take out 30lbs of rotating mass for about 80 dollars .. then another 60-70 for new bearings .. its all talk right now.. its going to be at least 6 months before the car is driveable ...i personally prefer a solid rear axle on a drift car

....stitchwled it before it literally falls apart......saw u saw vin diesel driving some american gas slut now u want one....tisk tisk..
