ok so i think that i spun a crank bearing(maybe rod bearing?) on my ka.. i wanted to know if i did do that, and i replace my bearings, do i need to get oversized bearings? or just get the same size bearings? thanks

ok than.. so i wont know if i need to get the oversized bearing until i take it apart and see the condition of the crank, right?

where would you get oversized bearings in the first place?? Im just asking cuz i might need some on my sr20

what causes a bearing to spin? would i be able to just replace the bearings without a worry of it spinning again or once a bearing is spun, the new bearing will sin also.?

any machine shop can get them (special order parts) just because its an sr20 doesn't mean other parts here in america can have the same specs. your gonna have to bring crank, rods and block to a machine shop to get everything check and put to specs and have them order you the bearings u will need! that way no problem or misunderstandings and happens to noobs!

for real cuz engine inspection, repair and assembly is hardcore.

If you have rod knock in a ka, get another one. It will be too expensive to regrind the crank shaft if necessary and fit the appropriate bearings.

For the person with the sr20. Take it apart and have the crank shaft inspected. You maybe able to get away with replacing the bearings before you hear the metal clanking.

or just get another one.

well i think that the bearing spun because of a lack of oil changes, and the car had been abused before i got to it and when i had it (practicing drifting) so i guess it will be a waste of time and money to rebuild this motor? i thought that it might be that one/or more of the bearings are messed up this means that the crank and block need to be measured to make sure that the clearneces are ok? i just figured that i would see the bad bearing(or bearings) when i took it apart and replace them all. it is making a slight knocking noise it isnt that bad, but a knocking noise non the less. i guess i see where you guys are comeing from with this, if i have to rebuild all this and then take it to a machine shop and replain the head, and buy all the parts, measure the block and crank, i will be at the cost of an SR, or just be cheaper to buy another motor... i thought that this would be easier but i guess there is more to it than what i thought
