sr and white smoke

got my s13 sr20det swap in and running finally after all the stuff wrong.....thanks JDM of miami lol, ill be there soon once the list stops adding up, thats a different story

back on topic. my sr runs alright and has idle good powerband etc etc. the turbo was seized and carlos was out of town and i had to get another one. came across a t28 from the s15 so installed that.

problem: when accelerating hard, if i shift around 6500 rpms or just push in the clutch and roll...3 seconds later a thick cloud of pure white smoke comes out of my exhaust for about 3-5 seconds then its back to normal...normal being no smoke.

only does it if i take it up passed 6k

i have only been driving it normal and only ripped it that time for about 10 mins. taking it up and down a closed off street lol, about 3-4 times. each time passed 6k resulted in 3 seconds wait followed by 3-5 seconds of white smoke.

reseached some but couldnt find an answer for it being in only high rpms...

thanks in advance

did you kink the oil lines on the turbo? did you install the oil feed line to the return and vice versa? if not then you need another turbo

jdm of miami is a different story since i havent gone back and talked to him yet,

the turbo, s15 sr t28, no shaft play at all

i dont have an oil pressure gauge yet, could not enough oil pressure be the reason?

and, if i dont take it close to 6k, i usually shifted the ka tops at 5500, so it shouldnt be hard to drive the same with the sr.

but if i dont take it past 6k, would everything be fine or the problem is there and if not fixed somethings going bad?

edit: the turbo does not smoke at all

check if ur dipstick is popping out a little bit
thats wat my new longblock from jdm does...
everytime it does that i check the dipstick and its out just alittle bit
i dont have blowbak or blowby..cause i did comp.test..and its good...
sheck the oil level
if its not that then turbo seals....
if it was valve seals then it would smoke on a more regular basis

no oil restrictor, sr is all stock with the exception of the s15 t28 upgrade.

replaced water pump, thermostat, all upper gaskets (valve cover, the circles around the spark plug holes, intake exhaust, gaskets on turbo, etc)

about the oil dipstick, its not coming out, instead its being sucked in. every time i check the oil there is vacuum i think. it may just be stuck. but its hard to pull out then i wipe it clean put it in and it then it comes out easy....

could that mean low oil pressure? and there isnt enough oil flowing through the turbo at higher rpms (over 6k)

stock lines yes.
there are banjo bolt on both ends......

also with some research they say
white smoke is coolant
blueish gray smoke is oil
black smoke is fuel

so this rules out that oil pressure isnt enough for higher rpms and points more towards coolant...

however, there was a leak in my heater hose and all my expensive coolant was leaking so i drained it, fixed that broken clamp and re fillled radiator with pure water until i comfirmed there was no more leaks. so thick white smoke coming out the exhaust could be caused by water???? if so, then is it still the turbo or something else.

still no compression test, but jdm of miami did that before they sold it to me and it was ok...ill update tomm morning after test. keep the comments coming please and thanks

do a comp. test if its good then start the car with the radiator cap off and make sure there's no bubbling of the water going on. if the compression is good and the head gasket is good then the problem is prob turbo seals, if not turbo seals then maybe valve steam seals.

how does the smoke smell like oil? or does it look more like steam?

Really really thick cloud of pure white smoke. Not light steam. It covers my whole rear view can't see anything through it....for 3-5 seconds
