sr redtop/blacktop head and block

ok i got ahold of a sr redtop head and im building it because i found it almost pointless to drop in the sr then build it and have to keep taking stuff apart so i decided to build the head then the block and whatnot. my question(s) are does it matter what block i buy? are the blacktop/redtop head and blocks able to be run mixmatched? also the wiring harness does it matter if it was from a redtop or blacktop since it has to be matched to the ka harness? ... im asking you guys because 1 you have more knowledge since there are some people here that know there shit on the srs lol . 2 i have checked with some other people and i have had yes and no answers to these questions.

so please any info would be helpful in the long run when im out purchasing the block and everything else to complete the build ... thanks
 
It dosen't matter either, as long as you have the right ecu for that harness.

Shops that do these swaps can also modify the black top harness for it to be used with a 62 ecu (redtop).
 
ok ya i just wanted to clear this up for myself and i knew people here could help me out lol ... and i didnt want to be facked when i go to get the block and build it because like i said i got ahold of the redtop head and its close to being finished ... thanks for the help guys


- so as long as the harness and ecu are matched the harness will run with the either blacktop or redtop motors?

it has to be a s13 red/black block with a s13 red/black top head u cant mix match s13 an s14 an s15 heads an block has to be s13 with s13 or s14 with s14.
 
ya i knew you couldnt mix the s13 s14 s15 i should of wrote that i just wondered about s13 redtop/blacktop mixing
 
they are the same, if you are keeping the same harness/ecu should be no problem. The only real difference that I personally know of (wouldn't call myself an expert) is the O2 sensor. But if you are using the same harness/ecu/o2 sensor should be fine. :bigthumbu
