Sr20 For 850?!

im chillin at okee and some dude named bobby approaches me and my boy and says that he sells motors and shit so i ask him how much he sells SR's for...guy tells me 850. full swap...i think its bull but idk....could he be bullshitting? guys i want ur honest opinions on this shit cuz it sounds to good to be true
 
It most likely is to good to be true. If it is so cheap, there must be something wrong with it or it may be stolen.

If any importer (if he is one) were to sell it that cheap, it may have some kind of problem or it is not a full swap, because i just paid this much money to bring it to the US I'm not going to sell it and make little profit. I do understand that some of the items brought to the US are overpriced because of demand.

The only other reason why I would see him selling it cheap is if he had it swapped in his car and wrecked it.

I would definitely be cautious when buying this motor.
 
check it out, and grill him with q's, then ask for compression tests and shit, does he have a shop or a storage where you could possible see more than one engine to choose from, because usually the dealers in japan dont sell em that cheap if you only buy a couple, i think its 1050 or 1250 last time i checked full swap ne wayz check him out but then again, you should always purchase from a reputable shop that gives warranties and whatnot

nah he owns a shop. and if its brians sr then ill no cuz ive seen his motor. but yeah the guy says he owns a shop and all that. he also told my friend who has a teggy that he can get him a b18c for 1k or a lil more...which to me sounded like pure bs cuz honda motors go for a lot especially an itr. he also said he has a type r full interior swap for 2k. idk these things sounded interesting but i might just go check it out....but what should i ask him?

-Compression
-Leaks
-Source
-Warranty
-Cut or Uncut Wiring
-Does the trans spin freely (if it is off of the motor, I have been sole seized transmissions b4)
-condition of the turbo


I know I'm probably missing a thing or 2... Maybe more lol


While your at it.. .see if he has Z4k's S2k... If it's in the shop, call us so we can beat his ass, then we call the cops... :D

It's the owner of "Detailz" wwouuuuuu. Don't believe that kid, that's the shop that installed a BOV backwards on an evo.....That says it all.
 
mmmm i wounder if he is talking SR20DE.... i could see that price for that motor. but if its DET let me know too haha. i will go buy one also.
 
i recently heard their parts "might" be stolen...but im going to be careful when i go check it out
 
its going to be hard to tell unless you just know something special about the motor. i dont know what to say about this.. kinda a hard one.
 
Yeah, you really can't tell if it is stolen until you find something that stands out. Especially since SR20 comes from Japan and the motors aren't matched to any car by the serial/VIN numbers.
