sr20det people what clutch are u using?

I just had clutch failure friday (good thing i didn't register for Moroso :(). I started off my sr20 swap about 2-1/2 3yrs ago with an ACT 6-puck (un-sprung) and heavy duty pressure plate (HDPP). about 9 months after the swap (stock motor IC/DP/3" exhaust and MBC) the center splines/teeth on the clutch DISC stripped so it was dangling on the input shaft. The pressure-plate was fine so re-used it and threw in an ACT street disc. I've had that running almost 2yrs a little over and last friday my clutch/shifting went out. Pulled the tranny on saturday and one of the springs in the clutch disc popped out.

Now being a little Tired of ACT, i called enjuku racing, i was going to opt for the 6-puck (sprung hub) and HDPP, but they only had the un-sprung. Then i was going to go with the Exedy 3-pad clutch but that was about 1-1/2 weeks wait time and i need my car. So they offered the SPEC clutch 6-puck sprung hub and pressure plate. Now i've heard a while ago people having problems with slipping clutch's etc but this is my quickest option. What are people using and what do you recommend? I will give it a try and do the propper break-in. Just curious what the other DD/drifters are using on here.

Are you talking about the Exedy tripple puck clutch? I know enjuku said it would take them a few days to get it then add on shipping time to me 1-2 days. What i'm trying to find out is if I should bother with the SPEC clutch or should i look for another route/option?

I used a spec 6 puck sprung for about 2 years of hard driving. I switched to a 6 puck unsprung just b/c I thought it would be time soon and i was planning a power upgrade. It was actually for a z32 but it worked great and felt awesome.

im going to be using a rps max 6 puck sprung disc + pressure plate on my ka. They have the same application for the sr20.

I was running a act hdpp and a ceramic 6puck sprung disc before, perfect, no issues.

i think i just had bad luck with ACT as i dont see many complaints. I saw some people a few years back when i first did the SR swap complaining about SPEC clutch's slipping and the rivets on the PP breaking. Hopefully thats been improved, but enjuku recommended it and it was the quickest option...miss driving and i need her back up and running it's my DD. i'll cross my fingers and hope for the best. hopefully the next event at countyline/morosso isn't too soon as i will need to do the break-in perioud.

Yeah there were some Spec clutch horror stories back in the day. Spec claimed most of the issues due to improper break-in procedures. Personally I took the break-in as serious as I would a brand new LSD.
