Maybe the best POST in a long time.... We are here to have fun, this is not a business, this is fun. We build our cars to have as much fun as possible. I am not looking to be a D1 or FD driver al i care is that when i drift i forget about all my bills, my school, and everything around me. It feels good and all the stress just goes away. Some of you might see it as a future but you all have to understand that if you dont have fun doing what you like, then there is no point on doing it. Box, you had a bad day man, so did Funk and many others that were there and couldnt give it their max. To be honest you are good, and you know what you did wrong, you also know what works for you. Pole Position wasnt there driving and most important he has never driven your car, so throw his criticism out the window bro. Yeah i know you all are going to say that it was constructive criticism. Guess, what? It doesnt matter it is still criticism. Each one of us has a different style of drifting just like Evan said, so i see no reason to keep on with this argument.

personally i feel unless you are trying to down gear (to reduce speed for the next corner) using shift lock is slow and not agressive. clutch kick or feint (or a combination) is the most agressive way and fastest entry (foot is on the throttle). if speeds are extreme, 80+ or so, and a fairly skinny entry path, ebrake it for smoothness and consistency. shift lock as a initiation is also the most harsh method to the car and parts i believe.

just my opinion, i know rob d loves the shift-lock, i only use it to connect fast to slow turns.

ok now if u read what i said here, you realize i agree and FIRST said all of the same shit. but when have you seen a 90mph entry here in FL(or even 80)? or who has been to one at all anywhere? even then, i dont think you can say FD/D1 is ebraking irwindale entry haha. course layout has to come into play sometimes of course.

now if we all can see that on page 3 i said what it took others 4 more pages to argue and then say the same thing again. lol...

man this thread was fun. we are all actually saying the same basically, but I agree with tonymac, anything under that 80mph mark, clutch should be main method.

yes with a stupid 180 degree turn you cant fly in and intiate at 60 with the clutch, but as i originally said a skinny path (ie tight turn) ebrake is fine. for a 3rd gear (3rd gear for 240, 55-75mph?) sweeper (wide and long) clutch is looked at as the best by the majority of drifters, and judges. and leave ebrake for adjustments 90% of the time.

haha, so we are back to being normal again...

Congrats on the entry speed Travis... who would of thought a fat man would go that fast. Hahahaha

thats RB power for ya!

Travis was also one of the most 'down to earth' nicest guys i have met at an event, so +1 for that!

Okay you guys i'm designing the next track layout. And it will have a tight 190 degree entry lets see you guys clutchkick that one. all the kart track guys will love this one.

Is there going to be a rocky drop off like where I started my clutch kicks from? If so, SWEET!

i've entered over 80mph on the streets

but it was with the KA

i need to go street drift, i havnt done it with SR yet
its always clutch kick
but then again i got really comfortable with clutch kick
ebrake actually is something i need to practice

everytime i practice a different intiation point i mess up
(ocala when i went onto the birm, and at wpb when i went on the outside of the turn the first time)
i need to be more universal in my techniques :(

I need to learn how to drive, everytime I go out I try something new and I learn something new. thats the only goal I have, when I stop learning I think I'll stop enjoying the sport and so far I think there is so much more to learn. thats why I like drifting its almost impossible to be a master of all the different techniques, When grip or drag is easier less to learn. Drifting is very challenging to the driver in many different ways. entry initiation, line corrections, etc... on grip really few, drag just one grip or fail.

nice way to put it...

Drift>Grip>Drag

hi I'm new
to this forum I have been checking this forum since this event thanks for all the great pics and the videos !! I have seen on here. This ter-tech event was the first ter-tech one I had been in it was great! There was not a ton of runs but I knew going into it it was more of a driver comp or search all in all I thought the event was great ,the people in west palm were cool, the track was great also, as far as were this thread has gone with the ebrake verses clutch or faint... just do what you feel. what works for you might not for the next car or driver maybe he like the sidebrakes feel to get the angle or the next guy likes the way a good clutch kick feels.
I'm with funk do what you feel at the time make your style your own ...If you can come into the same turn 13 times with the same line/angle/speed.. it's skill thats doing that, not your ebrake or clutch the end results will be the same consistant control and thats what we all want! More control... over what mainstream drivers think to be out of control!! I like fain/powerover/kensei/half clutch in my car but I like the look of a well done not over used sidebraking drift biggest thing I try not to do is get to dependant on anyone way to start a drift
this forum owns Florida btw
best regards Travis

Nice to see you around Travis. Hope you stick around. It was some great driving display you showed at the event.

i just wanted to say
