BLADDER_MASTER
is no more
*This edition is dedicated to Saru of the West, one of the OEM drifters, who made me realize that it’s time I speak out about this.*
Going to the April 30th RallyCross, I was shocked to find Xorxero there with his silver AE86. This wasn’t the first time I was surprised by him. I had previously seen him attending Auto-X’s. I was intrigued to know why he was here at a RallyCross. He responded by saying that he hardly has any free time from work. And since he doesn’t want to drift out on the streets, in danger of getting in trouble with the law, he attends whatever racing events are available so that he can get as much seat time as possible. His response made me admire the guy and made me wish a lot more of you guys, the people of this forum, were that way.
One thing I noticed from attending various drift events, was how drivers were having issues learning to drift. One of the main things I can attribute to this is their lack of knowledge of themselves and their cars. If they did, learning how to drift wouldn’t be as hard as them trying to learn it by not knowing anything, although some people learn quicker and differently than others. So where am I getting at with this? And why should you care if you’re already a highly skilled drifter? Ask yourself when was the last time you saw a drift event down in South Florida. Ask yourself why are you missing out on racing events (Auto-X, RallyCross, etc.), when you could be in there improving your driving skills. Yes I understand it’s not drifting and I’m not asking for everyone to quit drifting to go do something else. What I’m asking for is if you have an opportunity to know thyself, to know what you’re capable of, your limits and the same with your car, why not take it? By trying out different things, you’ll become an overall better driver, which will make your experience with drifting better and hopefully easier.
I’m only asking for you all to attend other racing events because of the clear lack of drift events going on down here in South Florida. I wouldn’t be asking for this or saying this if there were many drift events happening down here. But since there isn’t, we should all take advantage of whatever is available.
