The Homestead/FARA & The Drifitng Issue in South Florida

Ok, I just didn't get the concept but I was sure that's what he meant.

If you think about it, NASCAR really has no "WOW" factor until someone crashes or you reach the final laps, but everyone comes and stays seated from beginning to end. I would say the reason is the way in which it's marketed. People identify with the drivers and know them by name and by car, the announcers are knowledgeable and exciting, the media always has great shots and videos, the cars are loud and blingtastic. We have all that available, we just need to put it together into an organized venue. Moe suggested a ProAm meeting. I think that's a great idea, but I think everyone else should get together too. Media and drivers and organizers. People that are really interested in watching SFLDrifters grow and putting SFL on the map.

the focus needs to be FL, :) not just SFL. but yes, this is why i referenced "Just Drift" in Cali. Their series has great venues, great looking and performing cars, good drivers, great videos, and this gets them respect and more people want to drive. As of right now, I'd rather spend gobs of money to travel and do ASB instead of doing like 6 events here. I love FL and have fought hard to get sponsors to look here for events and series (like FDC) and have a hard time convincing them to cover a series that gets 14 drivers for a top16 tandem bracket, and some of the cars are mismatching/incomplete or totally stock in appearance.

IMAGE is the key, wasnt that sprites theme? Image Is Everything?

Ken Block is still a great example, look how his name blew up after those videos made his image awesome and entertaining. My dad knows who that guy is from a email that was going around and my dad is not in the car industry at all, nor does he follow racing.

IMAGE.

like what ive been saying for like 5 years, IMAGE is the main key. people dont wanna see banged up cars, its pathetic. but then again, the scene down here is pathetic. everyone sees drifting as a joke, no one sees it from a future point of view. everyone make fun of everything, no one helps anyone out. its like sfl is more of internet wannabe drifters than drifters that accually get out there, wake up at the crack of dawn, make sure everything is ready from a week proir and goes out there, drives and has the fun of there lives. no one here has that mentality, thats why a lot of the "higher" end drivers dont care for it no more. they all wanna go out of state. me being one of them. but i still wanna show love and support for florida because unfortunately this is where i live. its take years and dedication to get some where in this sport, so for all u bandwagoners, start dedicating.

i dont wanna here money bullshit either. paying a $100 dollars for an event 2 years ago wasn't a big deal, and all of a sudden it is now. people are being toooo hot head thinking they get everything for free. it doesnt work that way. ive spent sooo much money, time, sweat and blood to get myself where i am now, and i still dont have money but some how i manage to save and get whatever i need to get done just so i can get out there and support the damn sport that i love.
honestly, there are too many "children" in sfl that "represent" the sport. and thats whats bring us down. everyones too immature. if a problem accures, instead of helping that person out, they get made fun of, therefor, that one person is gonna think florida is filled with a bunch of bastards and they wont give to shits to show support. ive been all over the country driving and the people of met dont even compare to the rude douchebags that live down here.

my 2 cents

Yeah, I meant the state by SFL, I'm just so used to talking about the site. I'm looking forward to helping this community move forward. There's a lot to gain from this when you look at a bigger picture.

we never had this problem 5 years ago, back then everyone used to go sliding together and there wasn't any shit talking, ppl had their problems with each other but it was never a big enough reason to not go drifting together, n its tru we used to pay $100 to go drift at hialeah and it wasn't as much seat time as we get now at countyline, and nobody had sr's or coilovers maybe just 1 or 2 ppl, at most ppl had a j30 diff and that all they needed.
im sorry to say most of the ppl that join this forum now a days are just posers, they think its cool to say they drift, but when it comes down to going to an event they always come up with an excuse like "i dont have enough power" or "i dont have coilovers"

tru that. and the project cars people who have never drifted have that take 10 years to build but never see the track.

I understand what you are saying, but don't create animosity towards the so called "posers". These are they guys that are interested but are not educated. Maybe they don't know you don't need 300+hp and $1000 dollar suspensions to get started. So if you inform and pass on knowledge they might be more willing to participate in the culuture. When they understand things and feel welcome, those "posers" might want to drive in events or at least show up and spectate. Those posers usually end up buying used parts when you upgrade and sometimes bring new knowledge to the table.

In reality, we are all posers here, but isn't imitation the best form of flattery.

Good foken lord I sound like grandma when I'm drunk.

imitation is not what posers do.

definition of posing:
-to affect an attitude or character usually to deceive or impress
definition of imitate:
-to follow as a pattern, model, or example

Posers talk shit, brag, and then make excuses on why they cant do it. They try to make you look bad or stupid to make themselves look good not for the bennefit of the sport or because it's their true feelings, but to decieve or impress a bunch of newfags on a forum.

this

i drifted my first event on a STOCK KA, 100 dollar USED shocks and springs from Alibaba and a 50 dollar 240sicknessX Rick Welded dif. 150 bucks + 50 dollar entry+ Free tires found in the garbage= 200 dollars to drift an event. No excuses.

just saying.... some of you guys are bitching about the money that it takes to do this sport if you dont have the money than there is no reason to complane about it. The people who spend the cash just can. I spent around 20.000-30.000$ to drift and build my car but i wanted to drift with my friends jeremy/dan/jaun/esti/pat/hk guys/areok exc. guys its just for fun... If you cant build a pro car then who cares, just have fun go to the events that you can. Even when my car was broke/not finnished i went to every event i could just be hang with my friends and help out.
