this discourages me, personally

dont worry about man i used to drift a corolla too, and i didnt use the ebrake
but i guess a cars a car and if you get it sideways one way or anthor your drifting.

thanks, soon enough you'll all see me back in action. :)

As for that Miata vs. AE86 issue; I'd say it's a bit of a popularity contest. Some people prefer the AE86 because of its accessibility and inexpensive characterisitcs (at least in Japan), and others are recent converts thanks to drift media; the Initial D series, and cults.
The Miata is a versatile vehicle that is indeed rather light and balanced, and has its crowd -- those who take advantage of its small RWD chassis. The 86 is just more popular due to media and it's apparent ever-standing following. Just like my car compared to the Civics. From what I know, the AE92-generation Corollas are just as good if not more potent than the corresponding Civics, yet there's a ridiculous amount of Civics running around. It's just that the AE92 platform is underrated. Seems to be the same case with the Miata regarding the AE86's popularity, in my opinion.

Tell all of them to shove it. You just mastered a harder art then them. Not to be mean to FR's but it is harder to learn to drift an FF.

If you know your car well it's not to hard to push it over it's limits... you need to know what those limits are! Drifting felt natural to me when I got out on the track because I know my car so well and have driven it every day for so long.. I still suck and i'm by no means a good drifter but I could hold some nice slides and by the end of the day I could do a whole run without spining out. I can't wait to get back out there and pratice some more! i'm hooked!

Ditto, I did much better than I expected at the last event, I only spun out once and throughout the whole day the track varied from damp to dry. I can only hope that the next local event I attend brings just as much diversity and seat time -- I'm gonna request off that day and look forward to see how much better I can do compared to the previous event but keeping the focus on just having a great time. Believe me bro, you're not the only one that's hooked. :D

Hope This Chears You Up Mang

I heard that Hatakeyama (?) guy is doing some serious stuff with that EF Civic though.
Haven't seen it for myself yet, though.

Yea that cat's awesome man, but I already saw that vid yesterday, lol :) From what I hear, if thats the same car, his setup involves no swaybar in the rear and big tires upfront, whatever the case, I still think its a wicked show.

But it's the thought that counts, and i appreciate the notion, mang. :D

Yeah, I just hope it makes you feel better mang. Forget whatever these people say about FF's drifting. You know that half the people in the states that talk about it have no clue what it is. Alot of people think that fish tailing is drifting. or that taking a left in the rain and having their car get sideways is a drift. We know better. As long as you enjoy what you do thats all that matters mang. Keep up wit it.

Oh, you bet I will --- and much respect to you. --In that case, I'm looking forward to hanging with you guys at the next event. :) It'll be a while, though, because there are always priorities at hand, but I'm sure you guys will recognize me at the next time I show up.

Unless anyone's willing to buy my heap as is. :p Me thinks you're funny, lol. :D

Really, I've got too much going for my car to sell it. Having four doors and such an obscure car to begin with does have its insurance benefits you know.

:D Indeed. Thanks Lateral, yea, I suppose it's a "to-hell-with-those-who-aren't-open-minded" ordeal. In fact its anyone's loss to restrict themselves from seeing past what they perceive in any case (i.e. those who don't "get" drifting, those who only like American cars, vice versa).

And nah, my car isn't RWD at all, but there have been times when people have asked if it was. ;) Thanks, I'm definitely gonna keep it up.
