when i need to set the timing on my ka dohc i put the crank pully at TDC.... after that i make sure that the rotor is in cyl # 1 correct.... i thought that you set the ka24de the timing at 15 or 20 degrees. any insight would help.... i wanna make sure i got this right as this being the only thing that might slow me down when i go to swap my engine..... thanks

yea, make sure cylinder number 1 is at top dead center on the compression stroke (both valves on cylinder number 1 closed) As far as crank pulley alignment. There are 6 timing marks on the pulley, the one all the way to the left is 5 degrees retarded, the second one is TDC, then 5 advanced, 10 advanced, 15 and 20 advanced.

factory dohc ign timing is 20 btdc.

NOTE: while you are adjusting ign timing with the timing light, you must look at the timing pin from a 45 degree angle, not strait down from the top.

You have to replace the distributor?

no thats where the problem lies.... theres not one in the engine i bought... i need to put it on...

and make shoure to turn the motor at least 3 times by hand befor you try cranking it so if the timing is off you wont bend a valve and fuck your new motor up

what size is the crank pulley nut.... 3 times.... just to make sure it turns right

yeah and take out the spark plugs the motor turns easyer and if you feel it get stuck DONT FORCE IT go back a little and try slowly one more time if it gets stuck agen the timing is off

the nut is a 27 if im not mistaken

good to know thanks ill go get a 27 mm and i should be good.... thanks for all the info guys....
