Well, seems like Toyota is testing the waters in drifting more and more. They just sponsored an Aussie champion Beau Yates. The article is below plus a highlight vid of the 2006 season were he won the championship. Enjoy the vid and discuss:bigthumbu.

PS I really hope he does well next season. I'd love to see Toyota sponsor Ueo and bring him back to the 86.

He's awesome, I remember seeing his car in an aussie car mag like 3 or 4 years ago. IIRC its a turbo 20v.

I think toyota should've sponsored Ueo off the bat. Ueo has and I think always will be the most passionate ae86 driver/owner ever.

But this guys car is probably really fast lol

It seems Toyota wants to test the waters 1st but I can't think of anyone else better for Toyota to sponsor than Ueo. For sure the ae86 sales went up thanks to Ueo and thanks to Ueo winning the 1st D1 USA and D1 championship.

Oh about Beau Yates 86 specs, I'm sure it will be up sometime when the 08 season starts. Life must be good to get sponsored by Toyota, hes living the dream.:D
