I have a 2002 dodge 2500 4x4. auto transmission
it seems like the torque converter isnt locking up, or its slipping. and it has trouble shifting sometimes. im thinking it could be the transmission control solenoid or something like that. it has fluid and it smells ok. i am gonna change the fluid and filter but i havent had time yet.. any ideas??:ugh:

Is it slipping when it shifts if so What gears 1-2 2-3? When it catches do it engage hard or soft? Need to give more details.

its never a hard jerking kind of shift. its smooth. but it kinda shifts when it wants to. sometimes it wont go from 1-2 but if im rolling and i put it in neutral and back to drive it will land in 2nd. then sometimes it will shift from 1-2 but not to 3rd.

and i was on the highway when if first started and it seemed like it had another gear or overdrive and it wouldnt kick in. like i was doing about 50mph at 2300rpms... usually its like 60mph around 1500rpms.

Your transmission computer may be going bad or its a pressure issue. Maybe the solenoid be careful driving It cause if its a mechanical and not electrical you will damage the transmission. Any noise or vibrations coming from the transmission? Could also be the speed sensor is going bad is there a check engine light see If any codes are coming out. It could be a lot of things

i just pulled 1740 up on alldata and it has a ton of scenarios. Give me call if want and il give you a rundown. 561-308-6083

$130 plus fresh fluid and a filter. it was just a single unit. little round solenoid, you can see it as soon as you drop the pan.
