uh oh, coilover problem

88z31

Driver
so i bought these s13 front coilovers this week for the z31 build. used but in decent shape. didnt see a problem with them until i got the mounting collar (had to be cut off) and all the other collars and the spring out. i noticed one of them leaks, ALOT! it dosnt dampen at all and stays down. i didnt realize it before because the spring was on there and every thing was under tension. after getting rid of everything off the shock body (5 hours) i realized it was missing the seal around the shaft that keeps the pressure and oil in!!

so, my question to you guys is. do you know of any where i can get the seal? the shafts are 7/10 of An iinch in diameter. that or, do you know who or where in the sfl area rebuilds coilovers. They are RACING GEAR JTC-N1 circuit series. the damn things are almost 3k new and id rather not have to dump them :(:(:( and the website is in all japanese so theres no possible way of understanding it!! any and i mean ANY help would be greatly appreciated

I hope thrse coilovers help u drift better cause in ur pic u need all the help u can get

Those "coilovers" make me lol

Why don't you just stop being impatient and save up for a real set of coilovers?

Running two different brand coilovers is just stupid.

You're just throwing away money in the long run.

because new coilovers are retarded expensive for the s13. plus i basically have to destroy the fronts to make them work on the z31 thats why i bought used ones so i can make sure i can actually do it before i went and spent a whole bunch of money on new stuff. and with the custom build i have to do to make these work, i can adjust them to within tolerences of the rear so it really dosnt matter what brand they are.

You're in the wrong sport my friend.

new coil overs are expensive for s13's? there are cheap ones out there that are still going to be better than blown garbage. just go spend like a grand and get decent new coils

I disagree with everyone here, i would so much rather have used japanese built parts, than the chinese shit you guys call coilovers. Theres no reason why you can't get these rebuilt, and usually a rebuild is 100-150 per coil. I would search for a possible dealer in the us? Or find a circle track racing retail company, they will probably be able to rebuild them for you. Here's a list of swift spring retailers, all of the companies on the list sell different rate springs for coils, i bet one would do a rebuild for you.

your missing the point. to make the fronts work i have to bassicaly destroy them by welding them to my strut tubes. that means void warranty on new coilovers so tell me again, why would i buy new ones?

Simple...

Check motorcycle and offroad(4x4) shops, most of these guys rebuild their own shocks and a coilover is just as easy. If you pull the shock apart, and measure all the seals you will probably be able to order them and do it yourself. Then just take it somewhere to have it filled.
