understeer in a s13

here's my problem. me and drift a 944 recently installed the polyeurethane sway bar bushings in my s13 (front only, red ones from energy suspension). once we were done, my car surprisingly understeered alot, and i can't figure out why. do you think i need to tighten the endlinks more? or do you think its something else?
here's what's keeping me stiff:
megan racing street coilovers (8/6)
tein tie rods
nismo powerbrace
hicas sway bars (25mm front, 21mm rear)
polyeurethane sway bar bushings in the front, stock rubber in rear
vlsd
(hicas by the way)
i run 205 55 16's fuzions front and 225 50 16 sumitomos rear on z32 na rims (16x 7.5)

any idea what's wrong?
i think i need to tighten up the endlinks on the sway bar bushings.
agree, or could it be something else?

when u do anything to swaybar adjustments undeersteer is +'ed your taking body roll away which in turn plays with suspension geometry and how it changes do to road and wheel contact. your car is just acting the same as anyone eles in a s chassis, just deal with it and learn to drive ur car like that!

OK dude

You basically answered your question in the first sentence.
Simple cause/effect. You put poly bushings on front sway bar makeing the front swaybar more effective (stiffer) you increased understeer. Get poly bushings for the rear and that should help even it out.

Remeber this when it comes to swaybar anything
Stiffer front = more understeer, less oversteer
Stiffer rear = more oversteer, less understeer

If you want more over then just install the poly's on the rear and return the front to stock, that will help you decrease understeer.

tae out the front sway bar....kills understeer lol....im serious

+1. i am fucking around with my suspensino during my installation of new sway bars and without the sway bar up front makes a huge difference.
the bushings up front/rear theory makes sense regarding over/undresteer. ..maybe ill use that info in the near future .. thanks for that

What everyone said is true up to now. But you also mentioned you run wider tires in the back. Try running the same size all the way around. That or do your rear bushings as well.

so last night i ordered a set of 18mm rear sway bar bushings, even though my sway bar is 21mm in the rear.

i'm just going to install the polyeurethane endlinks from the kit, that should solve the bias i'm running now.

i'm also buying a pair (front and rear)strut bars, but i'm only going to install the rear one first. see if that corrects anything

you think this'll correct it? the different sized tires shouldn't effect it. people drift on different width tires all the time. i think even though im not going to be using the sway bar bushing for the rear and just the endlink it should still solve the problem. agree?

^ Yes different size tires effect it.

Whenever you change the grip bias front and rear your understeer and oversteer characteristics change
Think of it like a See/Saw You change something on the front it affects the rear.

More grip in the rear = more tendency to understeer. But you know the main reason why people run larger tires in the rear is if they have the power or skill to break them loose or if they are looking to increase their entry speeds.

Also if you want to make a difference with that swaybar endlink you ordered you need to install the poly bushings, not just the endlink, The endlink itself isnt what makes the bar work better its the bushings being harder than the stock rubber softies.

Also Strut tower bars do make a difference in the feel of the car but they don't change the under/over tendency of the suspension.

It really is a balancing act.

Why would you buy an 18mm bushing kit of your bar is 21mm? If you're having trouble finding them, Prothane sells universal sway bar bushings (w/ brackets) and end links.

What rear sway bar are you running? Most aftermarkets come with poly bushings.
