We didn't see this coming WW joins the dark side

drivers should just find the median and go inline 6. especially for the jap cars, keep it jdm. its getting to be the same ol everything with every car now, no matter what team theyre on and i think diversity is key, and that doesnt mean taking every car possible and putting a v8 in it..

I guess saito's jz monster, will help to see if a high hp jz engine is enough to battle against the the v8s

Inline 6 in most cars would throw the weight balance off, making the car pretty slow. Look at Jeff Jones' car from last year, an S13 hatch with a 1JZ. That car was slow as hell. The advantage of running an aluminum V8 is it's weight, and how much of that weight sits behind the front wheels. That plus the torque and cost effectiveness is why everyone goes V8.

I understand why everyone loves the 4 and 6 cylinder engines. It's cool to see David slay Goliath, but in a competition you want every advantage you can get. Plus, everyone running V8s has made Formula D the amazing series it is today. It's super competitive. Wouldn't it suck if one or two guys ran V8s and everyone else was in 4 and 6 cylinders engines, and the only guys running V8s won all the time because their cars were so over engineered?

yeah i guess i agree with some of your points...i think v8s are insane but theres so many of them now that im kinda just like "meh". i favor the JDM swaps if u will, like a vh in a nissan is acceptable in my book. idk just personal preferences i guess. then again, ive never had a v8 so i might just not have caught the v8 flu yet lol

Lol this feels like everyone is hinting at the same thing, American Drifting vs Japanese Drifting.

when u put it that way, its kinda what fd has evolved to if u think about it. the bigger is better american theory has infiltrated fd to an extent where the US has made its own sector of drifting. that may be why i always get excited for d1 drivers when they come over here cuz i wanna some "originals" i guess dominate our series like "nyah nyah" lol

When you have an engine that has only 1 camshaft that cost 200 bucks and gives you a 60 hp gain vs. an engine with 2 camshafts that each cost 350 dollars and will give you a 20 hp, it's a no brainer what engine to choose.

Everyone get on the Kyle Pollard bandwagon!

I give it 3 rounds. By the time he makes it to PBIR he's gonna wish that V8 was real. On a side note, his car looks dope ass fuck.

In japan there are plenty of V8 motors to pick from and im sure it would cost them the same price, if not cheaper to swap them into there cars(like over here). If D1 would have V8's everywhere would it be as crazy? would it be boring? or would it be the same?

never heard of this guy but he looks like the new walker to me lol. sexy car and an sr to top it off. me likey

I think it would interfere with their sponsors. There isn't much aftermarket supporot for jdm v8 engines as their is for sr/jz/rb series motors. And I'm sure it would be cool but honestly these doods make so much power out of their inline 6/4bangers that going through the trouble of swapping a v8 would be pointless. Look at Daigo, he's doing 1200hp on a jz. In America it's convenient to do v8 swaps (specifically LS series) because you can buy awesome shit for cheap and is readily available. That's why I always said that vh/uz motors are kinda pointless unless you just want to be different.
