Ok so heres the story.. A good friend of mine bought a old 91 toyota pick with a 7m-gte motor swapped in it.. It was done by TPS, a preformance shop up here in west palm. they built the car for there shop and then he bought it for 5k. this was about 6 years ago, i havent seen the truck for about 4 years and barely remember mods and stuff like that. i was still freash and didnt know much so im sure i didnt really know what the truck had in it anyway. he went up to fsu and it broke down on him and has been sitting for 3 years. hes not a mech. and didnt have the money to take it some where to get fixed. i do remember it was daily driven for the two years he had it down here. now my questions are, is this a good motor? i hear some shit talking goin on about then but ive been googling and youtubing them all day and ive seen alot of good running 7m's. next question is what do u guys think its worth? i will be putting a nice paint job and making it hella clean but i dont want to dump more money in it then what i can expect to get back. this will be my daily when i get it running. it wont be making stupid power but it should have nice get up an go. he also said it has a supra rear end on it, i dont know if this means it has the whole rear subframe or just a diff. he wil be sending me pics tomorrow. i just want to know some opitions b4 i drive 6 hours to go pick up this truck.
only mods i know of are "rear end" front mount turbo timer and boost controller.
ok what found. the whole rear end is a supra rear end. welded on from the cab back. has rear disc brakes supra lsd and coilover setup
He's asking $900 so i think i can fix it up and make something nice

ive already thought about swapping a 1j. 2js are too much bread.. if i buy thr truck then buy a 1j then buy a bell housing then get it wired im in to deep.
 
7m's are good motors if built properly. there biggest issue is there head gasket. if you replace the head gasket and use some arp head studs you will be ok. I had a built 7m that was just plain awesome and before that i had another 7m that i just replaced the head gasket and head studs on and that motor was great. on the stock motor i made 340 and on the built motor i was at 490hp. 1j and 2j's are better motors, but it all really depends on what your pockets can handle. just my 2 cents :)

2k-3k
 
I know it was running good so anything mechanical I can fix. I was wondering the value running. I was thinking between 3k and 4k depending how I do paint and interior
