hey people i want to spray my roof but i want to do it right.
now
here is what i have in mind. i know im missing steps.

Primer. dry sand 600?
black coat.
black coat. wet sand 1500?
clear coat.
clear coat. Wet sand 2000?
buff.
wax?

what grits to use? any steps i missed? please respond soon im going to start tomorrow morning with sand, then primer then im clueless i really want to make it look good. specially since im doing black.

when you wetsand start with 1000-1500-2000

if your gonna wet sand you better have more then two coats of paint and two coats of clear. Id recomend doing 3 coats of each at least.

when you buff it use rubbing compund then use polishing compound

also wetsand the primer with 600 dont dry sand it it will leave swirl marks in the paint

awesome i just found a writeup on the net too.
but is pretty much what you said.
thanks sas.

tomorrow im going to prep it and primer it and wet sand in the after noon then ill do the rest throught the week woot ill keep this updated with piks for future paint noobs lol

just dont sand dry or the paint rolls into little balls and scrathes the hard work you did

post pics, to see how it goes I bougth a gun and other stuff I wana paint my 240 but I wana see how will be yours, by the way how to time to wait betwen coats of paint?

ok.
primer done
paint done
Clear done,
im just waiting a lil untill is a lil mory dry to wet sand it.

now here is my question. and it goes to people that know. like sas not you noobs!

after i wetsand the clear coat with 2000.;
do i buff it with rubbing compound. and polish compound right away or do i have to wait a week.?

that also goes for the wax. do i wait a week before i apply wax?
lmk. thanks.

320-grit wet sanding is the best wat to get the new primer or Paint to bite real good onto the old paint.
320 is rough enough to remove a good layer of old paint and old clear but smooth enough that u wont leave scartches and swirls....U can alwaya go up from there in grit.
I 320ed the shit out of my GT-S 4 years ago and after primered...i remeber i chipped
the oaint in one place where the metal bent a lil and it lifted up the 22 year old orignal paint down to bare aluminum.

your answer is completelly irelevant to my question.

*also ive been looking online and some people apply rubbing compound on the paint before the clear. but some put the rubbing compound on the clear after the whole process.

and i just found that wax should be aplied after 60 to 90 days. so yeha.
