man i think the whole fnf 3 deal is making some people realize they got on the bandwagon due to the media, when did you start to think or know about drifting? or tried doing it? for me it was like 3 or 4 years ago, before the big media boom,. and you know what we were trying to drift and seldom succeding? trucks...that's right trucks big heavy v8 trucks with lots of understeer and we did it not because we saw initial d or som japanese dudes doing it it was the only way to take a a turn real fast without flipping those beasts over , the first cars we drifted ,or rather i drifted, before i even knew there was a word for it ...(we called it sliding) was a suburban, took up 2 turn lanes and didn't flip it was awesome i would do it often until irealized the physics involved and the danger too, the other cars were my friend's chevy truck an 85, and his dad's caprice 4 door , oh man...fun times...just ask the evo kid and the hachi kid from naples about drifting my 2door tahoe ....yeah

my sirst time whas when i first got my permit. i was driving my moms 91 explorer around like a madman. then i stepped up to a huge blue chevy 1500 pickup with a 5 speed. god i used to have so much fun back then. when i didnt have to pay for all the **** i broke on my own. those were the good days. driving to an empty grass field and making huge s turns and doughnuts. i wish i could go back to then but i wouldnt have the 240 or the corolla. now its like everyone with a 240 claims that they drift. its all a bunch of bull****. if you havnt been doing this **** for more than a few years your just a bandwagoner. fuker

I'm with you ^^^^ on that one. Until I can hit the perfect apex line, connect multiple corners, high speed drifts, etc. I have not really drifted. But the first time I slid or put a car sideways was in my daily driver. Just basically pulled the e-brake and counter-steered it. I'm sure any "car guy" drifter or not has put a car sideways on purpose. I knew about drifting awhile back around the beginning of the D1 series but didn't really get hardcore with it until like two years ago.

First time I put my car sideways I crashed it against a guard rail. Surprisingly I kept trying.

my first time drifting. i had bald tires up front and semi walmart specials in the rear and i couldnt do a dougnut :(

back in 99. I was pulling out of the high school parking lot *fresh black top was still slick* I gave my trans am a little bit too much foot and the *** end came sliding out. When my cleaned off my seat, I thought to myself "yo that was ****ing fun" I then read on the internet that guys in Japan were actually doing this on tracks.

here it is, 2005 and I am actually getting to learn how to do it correctly : )

My first time drifting was in my civic. That's right I said it in my 2000 EX Honda Civic with bald rear tires, the E-brake, and a rainy day. I've upgraded since then to a SR powered 240 to a 88 MR2 to a 86 Toyota levin and now the Evo. Now to just master the AWD 4 wheel drift :D

lol i remember tryin to do **** in my 93 Camry V6... yea i was experimenting as well as trying to destroy the car... i hated that ****ing thing.... Rite Evoboy?

to be honest with you guys there is only a few people on this forum that could be call drifters, the rest are all in the learning stage. including myself.
that is true. even tho i dont call my self a "drifter" i call my self a "car enthusiast" :D

my 1st time was during the gran turismo 2 days, i dont think d1 existed at the time, i drove a burgandy silvia with gold bbs mesh wheels. it was great and safe for a 14 year old!

first tiem i tired it was when vic franz met up with me and my brother and told me what drifting acctually was....i didnt know anything about it.....he took us behind homedepot, i think vic hit a curb and ****ed his car up since then me and my brother have been preety much hooked....we have been drifting for a year and one month....

well back when i was living in MI 8 years ago soo i guess that would make it 1997 i was 10 years old and it was in the winter time up there ice covered roads and snow everywhere, Well my dad had a 1971 dodge cargo van with a 400CI V8 automatic not fast but boy did that thing have torque

he let me drive it in this big open field that belonged to a friend of ours now he was only trying to let me have a feel for driving in the snow but what does every 10 year old do when they get behind the wheel SLAM ON THE GAS AND TURN THE WHEEL!!
well i was doing a very slow manji back and forth in the snow having a ball then my dad scared ****less told me to stop..

you gotta drive a nissan, DUH

anyone can call them selves a drifter, they can go out, burn up tires and slide the car around, do all the things that catagorize them selves as a drifter, its whether your good at drifting is you should be asking.

I dont know what makes anyone a drifter....thats why i asked "i hope i am a "DRIFTER".

I think the question should be are you a drifter or trying to be one. then it should be are you a drifter or a good drifter. For me the first time was when I watched 2 fast 2 furious J/K.

It was way back in 1997 when I moved back to Tampa and met all my asian buddie, they were like: hey you like imports right, then check this out ( Some JDM mag I think it was Car boy mag or some thing like that). I was so in love with the JDM style after that and a little after that I read my first Initial D manga (well I tried to read it because it was in Japanese) I don't care what you say but yeah Initial D influenced me into loving drifting.

my first encounter with the world of drifting was wen I got a game called 'Tokyo Highway Battle' for PS1 back in early 97, it showed Tsuchiya in a white S14 doing some dorifto. from that point on I wanted to do that, but I didnt know it was called or who that guy was. I started to do it in my 90 civic wagon in the sears parkinglot after work till I got cought and I was forced to stop. then I got a new 99 pontiac sunfire and I tryed even harder with stock tires, till one day I poped the tire off the rim.
It realy wasnt drifting till I got my 84 celica supra in late 2001 that I got sideways in the rain by accident. I didnt try to keep going cuse I had totaled the pontiac in the rain so I feared the rain at first. then in mid 2003 I got my 240sx and little by little I started to practice and get better.
