Yeah thats true. I'm with you on that last line you wrote. They should use the money for other more important things or atleast build local tracks so people could practice in peace.
On Windtunnel yesterday on SPEED they talked about Hialeah Speedway closing and how that affects all the grassroots racing, like us. Also how now these people have no outlet to enjoy their passion.
Its true they will never stop street racing but building more tracks would help a lot, I'm sure of it. There are basically two groups of people; the ones that love driving overall (drifting, Auto-X, drag, etc) thats the definition of a true "car guy" and the ones who do it for the rush of doing something illegal.
The problem is that the ones who would do it on the track, can't do it there so they have no choice but to go do it on the streets. I wish the police would realize how much we just enjoy driving. To me its what makes me feel good, nothing is better. Some people try to smoke to get it, some try to shoot it in their viens, all we have to do is put a little key in the ignition and just drive. Ayrton Senna said it best, "Racing, competing, is in my blood. It's part of me, it's part of my life." That should show the passion of "car guys" for their cars and driving.
