why doesnt no one use the 7m

from what i have read even the stock gasket is fine, the problem is the factory torque specs.

86.5 7mgte/r154
57 trim ct-26, BIC ddp, test pipe, greddy sp, k&n fipk, profec b1, yonaka intercooler with custom BIC hard pipes, lex/550, walbro, safcII, centerforce df clutch (2.5 years old), stock motor other then greddy 1.5mm hg with stock head bolts torqued down to 60ft.lbs

430hp on pump gas.

what a 7m s13, how much does it weigh compared to rb25's pr 1jz's

I would imagine the 7M to weigh more than the 1JZ and RB25. All 3 engines are iron blocks, but the 7M is .5L bigger.

and i'll be sure to return it so you can glue in a rear wheel drive.

You got the wrong guy. Contact MasterRex for that.

On topic again, reasons why I think people don't drift with MA70's:
1. Weight
2. Parts availability (Both replacement and aftermarket)
3. Weight
4. 7M engine (Me thinks peeps are scurred of the BHG issues).
5. $$$$

Well, I'll tell you what happened to me with my MA70 when I tried drifting it. It was raining, and I went out for a little session. I went down a road with really wide open curves. I was in 3rd gear, and I kick the clutch and I execute a nice drift, and it comes back to grip again. As I thought everything is fine, the weight of the car pushed against the tires limits, and it started to drift again in the same direction. Since I was not prepared, I didn't countersteer in time and the car just went into a complete slide, and I hit a road sign. Luckily, my friend in his GT-S coupe remained calm and did not hit me from behind. We just busted out laughing. I've never had a problem losing control in an AE86, but a Supra can go anywhere on you. It's crazy.

I was wondering when someone would start a thread like this. I haven't seen too many people drift the MA70 Supra man, but at the moment im working on getting mine in drift conditions. Whats done to your supra man? PM me. We'll compare.

The head gasket issue's not really an issue... Its just that a stock card board gasket doesn't do well over stock boost pressures... I got a HKS 1.2mm MHG on my supra and my car doesn't give me any problems with the motor. The 7M is perfect. Im working on getting some eibach springs and koni shocks front and back for now... With the 2 way LSD from factory and all the power that the motor produces its not that hard to get it sideways. I've done it in the rain but i think twice about attempting to drift it without the shocks... hell, even my sway bars need to be replaced. But thats all soon to come. Its a good platform, like the SC300/400... just the weight issue. Once you learn to control it its not that bad.

i am pretty close to sure supras did not come with a 2way from factory. i know they have Torsens and IIRC i think the JDM 1js came with some sort of cluth type. not sure about that one tho.

eh dont supra have the same problem?... there is not much difference in weight there. i also believe mk3s are heavier than mk4s

All due respects man, Get your foot out your mouth unless you know about supra's. Its a 2 Way clutch Packed LSD from factory. The MK4's are Torsens. The 86.5-88's are 2 Way clutch packed.

JZA70, Turbo-R Trim: Torsen 4.10:1
MA70 86.5 - 89 (probably - 92) NA: Open 4:30:1
MA70 87 - 89 (probably - 92) Turbo: Clutch LSD 3:90:1 or 3:727:1
JZA80 Turbo, Auto: Torsen 3.796:1
JZA80 Turbo, 6 sp: Torsen 3:133:1
JZA80 NA: Open 4.272:1

Supra's are good cars to get sideways, its just the weight issue and the fact that the factory springs on the MA70's are too soft. The TEMS (Electronic Adjustable Suspension) can be a good feature to have.
