WTF??? question about balancing my ca18det

so i dropped my ca18det block off at a local shop to have new bearings installed, new rings, have the cylinders honed, and have the entire thing balanced.
that was a month ago.
i talked to them last week, and they said they had begun balancing it and that intially it was 14 grams off.
today i talk to them and the guy tells me "this balancing job is wearing my dad out"..."we are very surprised you didnt have major vibration before"(well i spun the bearing a couple months ago, but it was due to lack of oil)..."we dont let any motor out the door until its within 5 grams".
the only thing i could think of was that maybe my trigger wheel

pressed onto the crank pulley threw off the weight alot??? idk much about balancing but WTF is takin soooo long?? sink

anyone?? ive never had a motor balanced before

ive had 5 diff motors with that trigger wheel and never had problems, unless u put it completely crooked. but it doesnt look that way.

i just dont understand why they are telling me its soooooooo unbalanced. i bought it from a guy who ran it for 2 years plus. them i spun the bearing (after only a month :( bc of lack of oil)
i just dont know how it could possibly take over a week and theyve only got it from 14 grams off to 13 grams.

i gave them the whole block btw. oem rods/pistons, new bearings, and oem flywheel.

not sure.
and they already told me the quoted price for labor wouldnt be changed no matter how long it takes

maybe your crank got messed up when you spun a bearring cause it shouldnt be that fare off

they are turning the crank for 60 bux. honing cylinders for 20 bux. and balancing everything for 80 bux.
these are awesome prices, one reason why i dropped it off with them. turning cranks usually goes for 100+. balancing 150+...

you get what you pay for when it comes to something like that i wouldnt cheap out but thats me

Sink who has your motor man? Sounds like a bunch of bullshit to me, they probably fucked something up. And now just dicking you around because they cant fix it.

i work at a machine shop. and 14 grams inst that bad. we don't let a crank leave unless its with in a gram. idk about ca's but i think they are internally balanced. most motors that come from the factory are horribly balanced. on v8 stuff 14 grams isn't bad at all. and Honda the same way.

so i don't think they are messing around with you. it just takes time. and those prices are dirt cheep for a balance.
