I agree with you, Zenki. However, something that poked my interest was this quote:

I've always had that vibe that Formula D was a little to overhyped in general --- you could take a look at the crowd it attracts and in my opinion they look like they easily impressed by drifting (to a Fast and Furious fanboy extent). Sounds like just another moneymaker to me.

about 75 percent of people that bought one owns it because they want to drift or jsut to be JDM....i wnat me a soarer, MR2 or a S13 coupe....hoepfully witch they will grip and not like to drift....

if you were going to grip, then mr2 would be the better choice, i dont think the s13 was ever a good time attack car, either way i still love to make a grip s13 on gran turismo lol

not really i bought mine because the 240 is now the civic of the drifter world...parts are everywhere and so are mods...i didnt want to go through the same thing as I did with the vigor and have to sell a kidney for something because its such a rare car!
 
People buy 240s because they are the cheapest drift cars. This does not mean they are the best drift cars, just the cheapest. Take a look at Japan... there's such a huge variety of drift cars that it's nowhere near overwhelming to see the number of silvias and 180s.... D1 has Skylines, Altezzas, Corollas, Chasers, RX7s, etc etc... and almost every amateur drift video in Japan you see Cefiros, MR2s and other lower end rwd cars.

I'm sorry, but for a grip car, the s13 is a very bad choice. I would much rather have a Miata for auto-x/track purposes.
 
wow im off ziptied for like 2 days and this pops up. but yeah it was more a response to formula d telling enjuku that there red tires are illegal when theres only 2 events left
 
MR2 for grip.
The Soarer is one of my faves and it would be rare as a road racer, you'd definitely be unique. BTW how's NC treating you Anthony.
And This country is all about making a quick buck and a big buck so why care who jumps on the bandwagon first what matters is who's still here when theres no more 240's left to buy or when drifting is played out. I for one will always be JDM Poseur I always have and will love Japanese culture and style.

You want my 2 cents. Noone is gonna care about the every day drifter, who buys his own tires, who buys his own parts, and who ****s up his own car redlining at every corner. You wanna drift, you do it because you want to, because you love it, or because you just wanna fit in. Not for sponsors, not for acknowledgement, you do it for yourself.

i drift cause drifting is gay, and i think less people should do it more and hate it at the same time. :)
