why wont it start????

ok. its a 93 s13 with a kade. its getting fuel and spark and doesn't want to turn on. i replaced the maf and still no sign of life. What could it be? the engine turns and turns and every once and a while your hear a back fire but still wont start. i checked fuel spark and air(the three main components) still nothing. any ideas. thanks guys.:bigthumbu
 
As everyone mentioned, it sounds like the timing is way off. Did you mess with the distributor at all or its wires?

yeah she had the plug wires off you have to, to replace the gasket

sooo maybe they got put back on wrong

and wait I just looked again don't you have a CA18DET? if so then it wouldnt be a distributer problem since well they dont have one, cant be plug wires since they dont have them. Could be an igniter but you said it has spark....

Cam angle sensor??
 
wires are the wrong way...

all u did was change the valve cover gasket and it started doing this?

Well, you only have to remove them from the spark plugs to get the job done, and not from the distributor. If that's the case, it's kinda hard to get it wrong as the wires all have different lengths, but who knows. If she took it off the distributor, then the mix-up might be there.

if you read the initial post...it says she has an s13 with a kade...

so the wires might still be and option.

i guess lets wait till she gets back and says whats up about what she tried.

NOPE. I HAVE A KA. WIRES ARE IN ORDER. AND THIS HAPPENED BEFORE THE VALVE COVER GASKET CHANGE. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT COULD BE. I SPOKE TO MY PROFESSOR AND HE SAID THAT I COULD BE GETTING FUEL BUT IF I'M NOT GETTING ENOUGH PRESSURE TO THE INJECTOR THAN IT WONT START. SO I'M GOING TO TEST THE FUEL PRESSURE TO THE RAIL AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.
 
lol check it because for some reason my cap is on upside down and works and when i tried to put on the right way it doesnt...weird.
 
i know its fuel injection but try pumpin the gas when you turn the key...i have to do it sometimes when i havent drove the s13 in a week or so
 
If you think your pump is tired, or the fuel pressure regulator is bad try putting a set of vice grips on the return fuel line. It will send full pressure to the rail and eliminate any low fuel pressure starting problems. The fuel return line is on the one that comes off the fuel pressure regulator (not from the filter).

When did this start happening? Was the car running fine before?
