lol rodd was right when he told me that shit

so i couldnt do the tranny, but when that was done i had to do the differential which was a bitch, as soon as im done with the differential, my bake pads are worn to the calipers pretty much, as soon as i fix that, i fix a broken stud which was a bitch to hammer in, after that, the car makes an anoying noise only in reverse comfing from the front left rotor shield being bent,

as soon as i fix that earlyer today, later tonight i discover my piston rods might be knock knock knockin on heavens door

i dont really know much about it, and have never heard it in person, but im pretty sure its not a good thing whatever the noise is

i figured this post would be useless without a video so heres a vid for you guys to hear what im talking about

at first it sounds like "oh thats nothing just the timing chain rattle"

you dont hear the rod knock noise thing till the second half of the vid when i rev it higher

well first off shut up in your vids of people trying to hear your motor

and i know you said that you dont know nothing about motors so its not like you could do anything about it.

if it was me i would take off the front cover and all that shit and see if the tensioner's are gone, but with you having said the motor has 170k on it and to me it sounds like rod knock.
 
yeah, i havnt checked my oil RECENTLY but when i checked it a month and half ago it didnt have low oil

and i know im supposed to change it every 3k, and feel really stupid for waiting, but its been like 4.5k miles (its bad, but ive seen people wait like 7k miles), so i check the dipstick and theres literally no fucking oil in there

i added a quart of this thin ass 5w30 part synthetic blend shit i had laying in the garage, and theres the dipstick still doesnt even read L

when my mom gets back im gonna run down tosuper walmart and buy like two quarts or whatever i can afford and see what happens

should i get thicker oil in this situation, or is there somthing i should consider for the oil im gettin right now in the mean time till i can change it?
 
yeah im gonna do 4 quarts of 20w50 tonight plus the quart of 5w30 thats in there now

hopefully untill the weekend or whenever i can do the oil change, ill be fine

if not, then im fucked
 
wait wtf are you saying you have 1 quart of oil in there only? wtf

and btw a month and a half ago isnt recent, that would be anytime this week.... after that is a while
 
careful with mixing synthetic and regular oil!! , also you might have this problem coz of the oil, change the filter, the oil and put some dense like 20w50 (synthetic or synthetic blend since you already use synth blend) and see if the sound goes away but as you said 170k cant expect much of the engine.. unfortanly sometimes is like that man...you fix one thing and another comes to play.. you ended up spending a fortune and runs like crap.. i dont know what else to tell you other than is an old car... something has to break. good luck!

and yeah, i guess ill have to get synthetic

this is just in the mean time til i can change the oil completley as with the filter


if my engines fucked am i better off rebuilding it or buying another ka that might do the same thing
 
just be patience dude and relax if not you will ended up hating the car and not enjoying playing with it..
 
getting another cause if its the crank bearnings which is what i think it is... you could need to have both the crank and block checked and planed/cut bla bla accordinly to get the perfect again and then you would have to get oversized bearnings and set that.... all this costing alot more then a good used motor... but you would never have to worry about this for a while...

then again you dont know much about motors so i guess i dont know what to tell you really.
 
The real question is: Why the hell ur engine after a month and a half had NO OIL.
Find that out then move on from there...

thats what im wondering too

theres not really any oil on my driveway and my engine hasnt been running funy at all so idk

i realy wouldnt know how to check how its losing oil if theres no leakage
 
it might be leaking into the cylinder via a bad piston ring, in that case your burning it but dont really notice. to test let your car set for alittle while and upon startup look for unusual smoke shootout of the exhaust.

lift the car and go under the engine and see if is leaking any oil form anywhere if not check the smoke like that dude said. i dont know why you put synthethic oil in an old ass ka. u crazy..... w.e u cant go back now.
take your valve cover off. and check on the front of the engine where the chain is. there should be a chain guide...over years it brakes.

mine broke and it satyd there just ratleling like that. after i took it off one day and it was polished to mirror finish check it out...

so yeah check into that. you can just take it off if you see is loose. you dont really need it , it was a recall from nissan. while your at it check the motor see if you have old burn oil build up.

if not i recomend you save for another ka. and drive this one till it blows.

or better yet. make a youtube vid of you redlining it till it blows!!! =)

Maybe im the only one that checks my oil level when I get gas.
But told ya anthony. From day one I said get a honda!!!!
