Ok wussup guys?? I'm doing a color photography class over the summer and I have always wanted to have a reason to purchase a camera. My question is what do u guys/girls prefer or what would u recommend for a beginner?? (Nikon d60,d90, rebel xs, etc) Which cameras are the most user friendly??? I jus wanna get out and have fun nothing major for now:bigthumbu
 
how does that stack up compaired to the other cameras?? I was really leaning toward the d-60....i want a camera that i can use in the beginning stages and also wen i develop more as a photographer something that can develop with my skill.... lmk guys thanks

i have a 2gb card, 55-200 vr, 18-55, extended warranty, bag and tripod. i might have some other stuff for it but i can think of it any right now. If you are going to be printing large photos the D60 might be better for you, if not I'd say go with the D40.

I love my D60 the only thing i am planning on replacing it with is the D90 Replacement when it comes out
 
Lenses>Camera body

Since you are starting out just get a base model camera (D40 is good) and when you get a little more serious with it invest in lenses that way you can move up gradually

Starting out: Camera Body + Kit Lens
Getting a little more serious: start buying good glass
Serious: Upgrade to a better body and you'll have those good lenses to go with it.

I wish I would've started out with a D50 or 40 but I started out with a Sony and had 4 lenses for it and then I got the nikon and had to start from scratch. I just suggest whatever you do pick something you want to stick with. Go to Best Buy or a camera store and play around with them to decide what feels right. When I bought mine it was between a D300 and a Canon 5D but for the price/features/feel I chose the D300

yea i'm probably gonna go play with the cameras this weekend.......but everybody keeps sayin d40 although the d60 isn't that much more.....thats y i ask which would be better.....i haven't even gotten any feedback on canon cameras

BTW IIRC you are a pretty big boy. The D40 maybe to small for your hands. Goto a store and pick up a few then check out Craigslist before you buy.

yea im pretty big.....my hands aren't outrageous tho i may be able to deal wit the d40, but like i said i will make a trip to check out cameras soon.....thanks for all the info guys i always thought mp was how u judged the camera thanks for clearing that up
 
where are you taking your color photography class? i know that alot of the classes at dade dont allow digital slr's, has to be film.

dude is the joke of the photography industry, they had stories on him about a year ago, how companys paid him to say what he says.

ok megapixels dont mean much?

try croping a picture, editting how you guys edit, save how you save, then try and print a 16x20

good luck with quality on a 6 megapixel camera
so block that stupid ass website, and learn on your own

and stop getting information from a dude who is paid to say what he says.

and the d40 is not that good with manual settings, one dial?
get something that has a index finger dial, and a thumb dial.
menus are alot easier, with the d80/d90
if your going to spend that much money on slr, dont bother, get the canon g9 or g10
