I was told by the supplier that the 88.5mm Cometic HG would work just fine....but thats the only one they have in stock, would there be any issues in using a .40 overbore hg with stock bore?

I wouldn't use cometic at all.

I wouldn't use a hg with a larger bore either. Who said it was ok?

I ordered the parts for my friends car from spoolupracing and I looked at it today and it says 88.5mm, so I emailed him and he said that it should work fine. I had my doubts that's why I posted on here to confirm.....

SR headgaskets are all made 1mm bigger than stock bore. They start at 87mm and go up. You can custom order an 86mm. Mainly for clearance issues if im not mistaken. Correct me if im wrong though, im just going off of what i've heard.

The biggest we ever ran was 88mm on stock bore. Theoretically 88.5 should be okay. But if you feel more comfortable getting a smaller size then do so :)

Its not really about being comfortable, its more about reliability...if I wont see any adverse affacet from using this its fine but if there are going to be issues I'd rather have joe@spoolup send me a refund and get one from somewhere else that has the right gasket. I advised my friend from the beginning to get the Cosworth HG but he wanted to be cheap so I didn't argue with him......

Cosworth FTMFW. I would just go ahead, get a refund and go with the Cosworth HG, because ive heard of cometic HG's having sealing issues, and a HG is a job you only want to do once.

Thats what I told the fucker but he wanted to be cheap and save $35.00 and get the Cometic instead........

I have seen the edge were the cylinder walls meet the deck eaten away from combustion/detonation (not sure if there was slight detonation that occurred - was using a proper enthalpy tune) after using a cometic. If your crew/shop/w.e. (idk who we is) ran oversized pos headgaskets, good for you. Its bad.
