Yea most likely you need a new monitor, at your place of business you would have to assume the monitor is calibrated to the settings it needs to be, at home lets face it not alot of people actually calibrate them. Most likely causing it to seem very underexposed. I do know they sell meters that will help calibrating your monitors. You should check if they have some at your job they wouldnt mind letting you borrow.
