bad day on the dyno

Sorry I don't get what was said above. Lol

Yeah I checked the inside of the valve cover. Ther was absolutely nothing. I inspected everything visable for any signs of little metal particals an nothing.

An I have a full s14 sr motor. Sorry I didn't get what was said about the s13 head with s14 vc. Lol

I was doing some reading and I read that the s13 and s14 heads are interchangeable. Although this is true..an s13 head will need the s13 valcover on your s14 block..or vice versa..14 head/vc on s13 block.

Being that you didn't by the SR yourself..you don't know exactly what modifications/interchanges have been done. It is possible that you have one of the above set-ups... minus the correct valve cover
With that being said the cam lobes could be hitting the valve cover

This may not be the case though

I got this idea from maybe the way the vc was tightened too much before you took it off...when u put it back it wasn't tightened as much which could be why you don't hear the noise anymore..just maybe

Also the post I was reading did not specifiy ka24de or sr20..it refers to s13 and s14 only.
I know for a fact it is this way for the KA but not sure about the SR..according to Bill above, I guess it can't be refering to te SR

Oh lol now it makes sense. I was super lost there. Lol

Well yeah. Sounds like a very plausible statement. But I do indeed have an s14 head an valve cover, cuz I still retaine the vtc. But what u said does make good sense.

Yeahh the video is the same problem I'm having. I thought about changing to an s13 sproket an eliminating it. But I decided not to.

But one other problem I'm having is with my ecu wiring. Well I've had it for a while now, but after driving for a bit the car won't rev past 2k rpms. An then u have to turn off an on the ignition to get it going again.
Ima take a look at all th wiring this week n hopefully get it working good this weekend

sounds like your mafs
start at the mafs connector and make sure the wires have good connection, then work your way to the ECU..
it uses the signal wire, ground, and ecu ground..shouldn't be too much to check if that's the issue..i'm almost positive

start the car and rev it from the throttle body and shake the connector wire and see if anything changes
(your car can run with the MAFS off or not connected but it will not go over 2k RPMs)

Ok well I've been driving the car around today. I noticed that yeah I'm pretty sure its the vtc going bad. It'll start rattling everyonce in a while but not all the time. An mostly in low rpm. Sometime it'll start to rattle then it'll go away.
Does this confirm the. Vtc going bad?

Its super annoying.

Ok I fixed the 2k rpm bs. It was some loose wires aorund the ecu I guess ffrom when I installed the afc. So its all good now.

The only thing now it that stupid vtc bs. Lol, most of the time it don't rattle or make noise. But once in a blue moon it pops up on low rpms, so I just givve it a bit of gas to go away.

So question now is, do I replace it for another oem ppart, or go s13 cam sproket eliminating the vtc?

Is it really? I'm not to familiar with nissans. I just got into a nissan about 6months ago. So I'm still learnin lol.

I'm thinking of pulling out the vtc solenoid an cleaning it just in case it might have gotten gunk in it or something

wrong when you have low oil pressure the chain could make a little noise, but has nothing to do with headgasket..

do not put s13 cam gear on it defeats the whole purpose of owning a s14 sr with vtc. If you do in the longrun you will loose 20-50hp and smoother powerband. I have a solenoid and a vtc sprocket bring it to my shop some day and il fix it. or just buy my parts and install urself. the solenoid takes maybe 60 seconds to replace i would of coarse start there.

freakin awesome, how much for it, this noise kills me. i hateeee it, an the thing is that it onlky come on once in a blue moon but when it does i freak out just cuz it makes me feel like ima blow something.

but yeah lmk how much for it an ill see what i can do money wise cuz right now im dead broke
