i have a s14 sr20 blacktop with a greddy 18g, an for some reason its seems to have a low vacuum at idle, its reading 10lbs of vacuum at idle. idk how much normal vac is but im sure its not that low.

any ideas? what should i check for.
an also i just installed a new hks ssqv an its not blowing off at all, its just causing my turbo to surge, could this be due to my vacuum problem?

your couplers or piping has nothing to do with vacuum
undo what you just instaled and check your vacuum there , if still a10 psi check cylinder compresionand do a leak down ,
you shouldnt have that many vacuum lines either, laso check the intake see if it loose, it would idle high also or rough if its a line

hmm ok ill try this!
damm now u have me worried with the whole doing a compression test. lol.
but ok ima check that out.

hmm ignition timing? how could that have changed if the timing has never been messed with?

can it be a defective bov?
an what the normal idle vac reading on an sr20
Normal Vaccum on a sound motor should be 20...My friends S14 SR runs 20, but healthy vaccum on any engine in general is anywhere between 18-22" of mercury on your vac gauge.

thanks for everyone help i figured out the problem. an it was just the use of a bad vacuum source. so now the bov is working.

im still getting a low vacuum reading at idle though im getting about 15lbs which im not sure if that about right or what
