The Homestead/FARA & The Drifitng Issue in South Florida

says the guy who drives the gokart. just sayin.

lol u r one of the guys i think got the skills and i like to see drift but yes there is alot of people that can drift but u put them on a comp. against people like u or harry or your boy with the white fc or boxmod and they cant keep up or just choke trust me i would like for florida to be like cali when i come down to drifting but for a com. to look good for a spectator u need alot of people like ya

Don't they say that any type of exposure is exposure? These FARA events should be full of drivers. If you can't keep a crowd of 60 people entertained why would 1000 come around? So in order to get exposure, these small events need to be noticed. That brings around sponsors and vendors which equals money for bigger events.

What exposure comes from Fara in the beginning there was a lot of driver's there and all the exposure was a couple of cell phone pics through a chain link fence. What kind of exposure is that?

I say this again.

The mentality down here is buy a piece of shit 240 weld the diff put coils, flat black that bitch and drive the piss out of the car. Media doesn't want to see a janky ass 240 thrown together out there. Media wants to see sick fitment nice paint and low. Thats what drifting was built on. People need to put some time into their cars and then maybe we can get noticed. I can count probably count on 1 hand the cars that look the part down here.

You are completely right about the look the car should have. I have said so myself, but if you think that FARA is too small of an event and we should wait for someone to bring a big event then you are completely wrong. When the big event organizers want to do something they look at demographics, they look to see what type of following there is so that they can make money. FARA might not be the dream stage, but it is a stage nonetheless. You put a good enough performance then all those bullshit cell phone pictures and youtube videos get people interested and the following grows. We have good photographers and videographers they should be out there capturing and editing the bejesus out of these events.

We have good photographers. Not saying its the media guys fault because it isn't. The pictures don't do an event justice. Yeah it looks cool to have you tearing shit up as your background on your computer. But people want to see video of the driver's anyone can look good in a photo doesn't show your skill level at all. Video's make the exposure. I for one get bored quickly looking at photo's and I think it would be safe to say that there are a lot more people that get bored looking at them too. Roly and Guy are trying to do the video thing but FARA doesn't seem very media friendly so it will be hard to capture anything good at that venue.

this...our whole project with "smerk films" is to basically put florida on the map.or atleast try! we are in the works with some companies, and also working on on some projects you will see real soon

edit: hopefully some people can step they're game up and give us something to shoot.im tired of seeing people fail it up.and give us nothing to shoot.i stopped shooting at events because there is nothing interesting. soo yea

Even if you guys do that I don't think it will be enough. We need to help you guys out by not having half assed throw together 240s. Its inexcusable now AIT M4 aero is like 400 bucks, cheap good offset 5 lug wheels are abundant and a single stage paint job from Maaco is like 300 bucks that money spent right there will help you help us get on the map. People on here just want to make a million excuses of why drifting in Florida is stale.

This is it in a nut shell: Our cars look like shit nobody wants to see a bunch of pieces of shit running around the track. Its like going in for a job interview wearing ripped up jeans a stained wife beater with no hair cut who in their right mind would hire you. You have to look the part for people to be interested.

ummm you own a flat black 240sx.....

Ummm, I'm not drifting at that level. But you bet your ass that with my black 240 I will do everything I can to support anyone drifting here and if I do make it to that level, the hoopty will be looking friggity fresh. How about instead of trying to troll or attacking me with the obvious you bring something worthwhile to the table.

I'm totally in agreement that FARA is not media friendly, but it's not impossible to get people in there. Maybe moe can do something to get some of the Smerk guys into the next one? I just think that this FARA events are worth putting time and effort in. The last event I was there talking so some of the road racing guys and a lot of them where impressed with the demo. If we could get someone with a megaphone to announce that would be great because the foken DJ sounded as excited as American announcers describing a soccer game, and this thing needs to sound like the Mexican channel announcing a soccer game.

What level is needed to have your car looks nice. I just went over the fact it is inexcusable for 240 owners to have a flat black piece of shit looking car when its so cheap and easy to make them look nice.

It would be nice but again it comes to this. Even if Roly and Guy get to do something at Fara there are cars that look like shit and nobody wants to see a shitty car in a video. Drifting is the only sport that your style reflects you. Its not like you build a bad ass circuit car and win a race and your driving ability separates you from the rest of the driver's. Your driving ability is only part of what people look at in drifting.

well im going overfenders and some other shit cars getting paint and the kit not some bullshit ugly m4 kit is almost a done deal so we'll see where it goes from there now that i kinda proved myself worthy of tandeming i can only improve from here but the one truth to all of this is that you have to pay to play

I'm not drifting at the level to partake on a demo like FARA. Who cares how awesome the car looks if you spin out and crash in every run, which would be me. That's what I mean by that. I don't speak for everyone but I have to concentrate on performance and suspension before I rock aero and bodykits.

The fans are what makes this motorsport. The fans care how your car looks.

Rhetorical and hypothetical question. Would you go to a car show with a bunch of piece of shit cars all painted flat black with shadow offset wheels and falling apart? I already know the answer. Would you go to a car show with a bunch of cool looking cars that were sitting super flush with sick paint? Yes. Would they have a car show if nobody attended? No. Well drifting is the same basic principle.

Exactly andy. It should actually be opposite. Concentrate on driving and purchase DRIFTING parts first than for looks.

I know that fool! I'm in complete agreement with you. Drifting caters to the fans. It's about the show. Now stop hating on flat black deuces and brainstorm with me so we can help finkelstein get a candy coat purple paint job and matching neons.

I'm not saying this because I'm friends with Moe, but the reality is that the dude got the FARA stage, and wether drifter, spectator, fanboy or hater, we should show support. Not just to Moe, but to everyone that does go out there and drifts. And this goes for any event organized by or for anyone here. Like I said, it's about unity.
