ok so about a week ago i finished putting ac in my car finally and ive been noticing that it shuts off and turns back on and visa versa over and over again, but at night or wen its raining it stays on like its suposed to, wat does this mean?, does it need more freeon? or did i put too much in? soo many questions, any help is appreciated

btw the car is a 93 240sx ka, r134a conversion

If anything jump the pressure switch located on the receiver/drier and see if it works. If it does then look into using an s14 switch if possible. R134a runs at a higher pressure than r12.

on the money.
its either has too much charge (freon) or your condenser fan isn't extracting enough heat. thats why it stays on at night and while its raining ( cooler temps ). put on a set of guages, if the charge is too high then take some out, if the charge is ok then either replace the high pressure switch or look into your condenser fan.

so i should take some out of the high side is wat ur saying?, im just asking a ton of questions bc i wana do it correctly and i cant stand this heat, and its my daily

oh and i dont even have a condensor fan lol

what im saying is IF there is TOO much refrigerant in the system THEN you need to take some out. and you NEED a condensor fan. the stock clutch fan isnt enough and if you only has some shitty e fans its definitely not enough.

keep in mind when you change to 134a from r12 you need to use 75% of the charge weight.

like if its 2.00lbs of r12 you need 1.5lbs of r134a to hit the right pressures.

ok thanks

ok so u have a nice condensor fan and it blows colder but still shuts off and on like it used to so wat do i do, add some freeon or take some out?

Yea it sounds like it has to much Freon. Try getting some manifold gauges the high side shouldn't have more then 175 psi and the low side could be between 30-45 psi. If the high side is too high try removing some Freon. Also did you vac the system before adding Freon?

BTW I work in Hallandale and dixie if you wanna swing by I have manifold gauges
