alignment problem.. and Steering question?

ok so yesterday i went to get my alignment done, s13 btw, and it was good and tight for a few miles.. but as soon as i was about a block and a half from my house it started to pull to the right again?????? wtf... i still have all my steering.. no it just pulls.. and now when I went to go on the highway the steering is straight but wanders and catches its self again..

question is what would cause a wandering steering? Is there a bushing on the rack and column? pics?

and the pulling? wtf...
:chair:

should i go back and complain? i dont wanna get my friend in trouble... i mean i still paid for it and stuff..

The steering rack has two bushing on it. very easy to see them when the car is up in the air. normally when they go bad your steering wheel will tend to go off center after turning. also check your tension rod bushings, they could causing the caster to change giving you a pull.

i have isis tension rods.. they dont clunk or anything under braking or cornering, also the bushing on the rack are good. i check those about a moth ago.. is there another bushing on the column?

there is a bushing in the steering shaft

you need to remember that a pull will be caused differences in caster split and/or camber spilt. and an off center wheel will come from differences in toe, thrust angle, and/or movement in the steering linkage. its is also very likely that on your street that you have a high degree of road crown which causes you to think you have a pull.

ok that i understand if its slopped too much but its not... its happened at other place and i just switch to the other side. i cant be that on the turnpike that i wander... its weird.. if i can go back before they close after work ill but i didnt get an alignment sheet. either... fml

^ new tie rod ends and inners and i hear a slight hum under braking. but thats it... how can i check the bearings?

raise the car up and grab a hold of the tire and the top and bottom. wiggle back and forth. if there is movement try to locate where its coming from

the steering rack bushings might look good, but under the clamp it could be rotted.
id suggest checking the tightness on the clamps too. if either is bad or clamp loose, the rack can shift inside of the mount, instead of staying put, which throws off the alignment once the friction of the road puts force on the tires.

ill go back and ask to see the sheet. he said he could print it out.... i was searching and came accross a thread on zilvia where the seering column bushing could cause that.. IS this correct? how hard is it to change it?

its sweet. I run toe out in the front.

a good racing alignment is not going to be a good daily alignment.

You pick one or the other.

My car goes through a front set of Falken 615k's in about 4 events.

If you put a racing alignment on your daily, you're going to go through tires....and complain about it to all of us on here.

ok.. well that was it.. not complaining just dont want my car to pull and act stupid... ill try at the skipad this 11th and see... my issues before was that i was chopping tires with two drift events and daily driving... i drive alot to and from work.. till i get a daily.. thats it...

got it fixed... i switched my control arms, and steering rack bushigs... tight as hell. but now i need to pay for another alignment.. fml

Best way to learn about caster, toe, camber and all that good stuff is forza unter the tuning when you tune your car it tell you exatly what it is and the differnce from having it in or out or + and -
