What is Positive and Normative analysis?

like the title says, i have to write a paper and a part of it is positive and normative analysis, however I am a little confused about what exactly that is....I know positive is like a statement of fact and normative is something speculated but how would this be used in an analysis?

normative is statement expresses a judgment about whether a situation is desirable or undesirable...
and a positive statement is a statement about what is and that contains no indication of approval or disapproval...
