Some familiar faces rose to the top again for round 4 of the Streetwise ProAm series, which took place today in Charlotte, NC. Doug VanDenBrink took home the win again, extending his lead in the points. Nate Hamilton took home second place, while Sikky driver “Rapper” Dan Savage took home third. All three drivers were already ranked in the top 7 rankings entering this event, as we highlighted earlier in the week, so they should all be well on their way to earning their FD Pro licenses with only one event to go.

1st – Doug VanDenBrink – Ford Mustang
2nd – Nate Hamilton – Nissan S13
3rd – “Rapper” Dan Savage – Nissan S13 SilTruck

doesn't matter if Doug VanDenBrink wins his license because he won't take it, he will stay in pro-am and pick on people with an FD spec car

Doug at least makes it 0.01% more like how FD is actually going to be next year for the people who earn a license.

FD is seriously nuts, and absolutely nothing like pro-am.

With the way I saw DVDB drive in PBIR, he wouldn't qualify for Top 32 in FD. So even if he has an FD spec car, he's not on that level as a driver in my opinion. Yes, he was a pro a few years back, but you also got to remember that back then, it was half as competitive as it is now. The cars are faster and better built, and the driving is much more insane now than it was 3 or 4 years ago. Hell, I could tell the amount of progression the sport has made since last year, especially with how scared the drivers are of Daigo and his crazy car. So yeah, DVDB might be too good for Pro-Am, but if he went to the pros, he's fucked.

lol i just thought he was good enough one time to be pro and then one year he sucked and went back to pro am

Yeah, people that complain about Doug driving pro am are stupid. If you license, you have MUCH MUCH MUCH bigger fish to fry.
Like Jeremy said. FD is insane. It's so crazy how good those dudes are at driving and how gnarly all those cars are.

I just dont get the point of him driving pro-am, if he isn't planning on going pro. Wouldn't just driving XDC make more sense?

If you can't beat Doug than you have NO HOPE in the pro's anyway. Honestly if anything, guys like Doug elevate the pro-am level and better prepare the Southeast Pro-Amer's for the pros when they make it.

just want to point out that doug and I have faced off four times this year (every round). We are 2-2 in the battles now. Besides losing to me, the only other battles he lost was when he spun out. He has yet to spin vs me.

Bring on the bigger fish.

Exactly. If you can't beat the pro-am guys how can you expect to move on and be successful?

And he is just a freak at that charlotte track. He has that place dialed in.

Eh, idk how Doug is really preparing these guys for the Pros, I mean Pat and Lowe has said a bunch how Pro-am is nothing like FD so I doubt it makes a difference if Doug is there or not.
Im just curious about the idea of "Pro-am"? Is it a series made for people to get a pro license to go to FD or is it just another series that just so happens to give out pro licenses for FD?

But, yeah im not a driver or anything like that im just curious on that subject.

It's designed to be a ladder series into the pro's. But like any type of racing at that level you're going to get some people who realize they peak at the pro-am level and some who move on. Be it for financial reasons or plain skill level.

And to your comment that pro's aren't like pro-am, that's kind of proving my point. If you can't dominate at this level you don't stand a chance at the next.

Well, my only input is that there are some guys that could use that license for more than staying pro-am level.

now most will argue, well if they cant beat doug they dont deserve the license; I see your point, but who says doug isnt pro level?

This is the whole reason we have classes isn't it? maybe Im wrong, thats just going off what I know and been taught about racing in general.

It's not just skill level though. FD Pro is something like $850/event just for entry fee. Not to mention travel, hotel, etc...

That's why I added peaking in pro-am be it for financial reasons, etc...

you know after thinking about this more, really FD and SWD should allow a top 4 competitor to defer their pro license to the next pro=am driver in line if they already have a license. That would resolve the issue.
