86 you can do so many swaps 4AGZE, IUZFE, 3SGTE, 7MGTE, 1JZ, SR20DET, RB20DET, small block V8 350 or 289/302. It depends on how much money you got and how much you love the car. With a car of that age you run into other problems like the milage on the chassis and not knowing how abused the car was. I'm running into that wall know with my supra. I pretty much have to replace every part on the car to keep it running. Boosting the stock motor is not a good idea. The stock motor is like 75 hp so you could with alot of boost get like 150. lol
He pretty much said a lot of what I was about to say. What do you plan on using this 86 for? I'll assume drifting since it is a drift site

. Well, to honest don't even worry about the engine right now. Just get the engine running strong stock and keep it reliable. I would focus more on findng a good chasis and aftermarket suspension. A stock engine 86 with good aftermarket suspension and a good suspension tune is one of the funnest cars you'll ever drive(for the $ of course). You'll be driving at full throttle all the time, man its a lot of fun when your on the gas so hard your helmet hits the roof. You'll litterally be standing on the gas lol.
As for boosting a stock bluetop, well it better be one in good condition and some sort of manangement unit. I've seen plenty of stock bluetops boosted run in the 170-200whp(strong engine, management, good tune). You'll be surprised what the little 4ag can take. I can tell you right now 150-160whp in an 86 is very nice, makes it competitve for local events. There are tons of swaps for the 86 the most common would be 20v, 4agze and boost. Lately the F20c swap has been getting more popular(theres a complete engine and tranny mount kit out now), just need to find a good deal on the engine.
I can talk all day about the 86, if you need anything like where to find any parts or whatever just PM me. There are a few others on here who can also help. The parts for the 86 are not that hard to find, if you know where to look

. After so many years being into the 86, tuning them, drifting them I like to think I have some decent knowledge and I'll always help out a fellow 86er.
PS Sorry for the long post, not many 86 related things on here lol.
