Well even if people didn't know how to look up other people's picture it sure went out the window when #7 gave up her entry.

#2 good shit.

Guy, its exceptionally hard to be original in photography. Its been around forever so its going to be hard to put out your own idea, just think you did and call it a day. If people can't say why they didn't vote on a picture then whats the point. I somewhat see this as a critique. People give their input on the pictures they voted for. I was going to go down the list with every picture but decided not to.

ps stop getting butt hurt about people using photoshop to whatever extent they want to. If you don't think your skills are up to par work at it. This is just fun.

Anna I wasn't trying to call you out. I would've did that to anyone that submitted a picture that didn't fit the contest.

im sure the photographers wanna see what others have to say about there work.. so go for it..

butt hurt? ok im just saying it should be limited because the point of a photography contest is to be creative taking "photographs" not taking a picture of whatever and PSing the shit out of it....

then what the fuck?
i toke a picture of a some lady shopping on friday morning, how the hell is that not orginal? ='(

i say do et!

Guy photoshop is a tool, use it. Lightroom is a tool, use it. Paint is a tool, use it. Kinda get my point. My picture wouldn't be what it was without photoshop. There's nothing wrong with using what is there for you. If it were take your picture and upload it all of my shots would be underexposed. Thats my style.

My takes on everyone's entry. I'm no big shot. As a matter of fact I suck hardcore. Every contest I enter I get a few votes. I know I need to better myself thats why I like critiques. So please don't take my opinion as end all this will make you a contest winning fool cause I def can't win one.

1: The lizard is underexposed. It also blends into the background a bit to much.
2: Good in my book. It got my vote.
3: Fill up the frame more
4: idk it just didn't do anything to me. I would've stood in front of it to have it be symetrical
5:My eyes are drawn to the potatoes but they are oof due to the focal point being the foil pan.
6: would've gotten my vote but its not b&w yes it only takes 2sec to change but it wasn't
7: I like it the subject pops due to jumping into an overexposed sky which works in this picture
8: Looks good
9: If the light was more to the left of the person so the other side of the face would be in more darkness would be awesome
10: If the girl was in focus it would be awesome

Like I said again this is just how I would do things if I shot those pictures. They are no way to be set in stone. I'm still learning. And I even included my own picture on what I would change now that I look at it.

I understand that photoshop is a tool but I feel that you should limit it. In my opinion Lightroom would be better because you can't completely change a picture, you can set the picture to the proper exposure (like you say you shoot underexposed) and then fix little things here and there. ofcourse you can do the same things in PS but I'm just saying think of it as using lightroom where you can't change it completely.

I just like it better when you can take a great shot off the bat and if you need to adjust it you adjust the minor shit. It seems more like abusing photoshop for a photography contest when you completely change the picture.

Lets say you have a picture of a car next to a puddle and you want the reflection of the car in the puddle but the angle wasn't right you can just go in photoshop and put the reflection there. you see what I'm saying?

Seriously when you said "one of the top pictures isn't even black and white" it sounded kinda dick. The way you said it above was a more serious and trying to help tone.

The photoshop thing I agree with Guy but in this case you took the picture intending to chop it to make it look nice, if people saw the before shot they would see what I mean. I don't like when you take a regular shot (like the one Guy gave as an example) and abuse photoshop to make it how you want it.

I usually just stick to minor adjustments in my shots

people could have a style that goes using the mess outta photoshop and crazy filters to get the result they want. my boss had a picture that was pshoped crazy but the end result was very pleasing and looked nothing how he had orginally shot it. the only thing that should matter is the end result. you can still go wild and in depth with lightroom. the only thing you can't really do is have different layers and more control of your picture in lightroom. i could be wrong though.

if your gonna limit what can and can't be done why not just ban the use the of program all together. its not right to say fal can use his clone tool but guy can't use the hal tool or filters or whatever it is that you think that makes photoshop an unfair tool to use.

i'll go with whatever zack says the rules are.

sorry if i misspelled words and kinda rambled on. on posting from my phone.

if my entry was a problem next time just send it back and ill fix it. no need to bash it. im not 12 i wont throw a tantrum. and its not like i send it in last minute.

lets just get on with this contest. if its up for voting it passes all criteria of the contest. thats basically how the SP contest went with all the photoshopping.

if the photos dont make it to voting they either got sent back to be fixed or they never made it at deadline.

when did i bash your picture?
didn't i say i liked it, and voted for it?
i just stated its not b&w

i dont think photoshop will be banned, unless i make a photoshop free contest

so, can we just move on to the next contest?

and are you gonna announce the winners? or will this contest be nulled because of all the controversy?

zack: it wasnt just you. and thank you for liking it. means alot.

hayabusa: frank was right the way you said it sounded dickish, but whatever, lets drop it, its water under the bridge.

pshop: on a personal level: i shoot to shoot perfectly, and use pshop for minor adjustments. if for some reason they didnt come out the way i envisioned.

i say: if it made it to voting then its valid.
