Fuck Me!! SAFC II

Kenrik

Driver
So I installed my SAFC II... when I first started and then it died but then I reset the SAFC and it was running fine (except it was not setup at all)
I started it a few more times and let it Idle a bit, then I drove it up and down the street to make sure everything was good and everything was working as it had been before the install. I parked the car and picked up the SAFC and went into the Menu and I clicked on ETC > Sensor Chk and I saw the voltages etc.. then I clicked on sensor setup and the car started to run funny sitting at idle and would not rev at all... I turned it off and tried to start it but it would just crank, I reset the SAFC II again and there's no difference... If you open the throttle while cranking it will start but you have to keep your foot on the gas to keep it running and it spits out TONS of Black smoke, AHHHHHH WTF did I doo????

:(

EDIT: I just reset it again and it starts and runs fine again... I'm not touching the SAFC again, I'll have someone else who knows what they are doing set it up for me. Untill then it's just a piece of Ricer Eye Candy.

Anyone want to help me set up the SAFC for my car?

ive got some settings u can match maybe... my car ran pretty hard with this street tune.. if u had a Wideband it would be even better.

Now the car breaks up in second when you get on the throttle.. I think the plugs may be fouled now.

yea buy a good amount of plugs when doing a base tune to set it up.... and plzzz plzzz usea wideband when tuning it.... not just an A/F gauge... but yea... Good Luck

lol, did you change your in and out settings from the default 0,0 to what it suposed to be for the sr? its in the technical manual or the tech link on their site.

read the manual front to back before you install the thing. lol

did you have it set to 4 cylinder and the arrow pointing up ?

sensor check was okay? it read rpms tps and airflow??

I did read the manual, but I need to read it over again

Sensor check was ok but it's not reading rpms for some reason... ??? I did not change the in/out settings yet. I'm confused....

not getting rpms while running, wrong wire for rpm. i belive its the green wire on the safc harness. I dont know what color wire it is on the sr ecu plug though.

I dont know what color wire it is on the sr ecu plug though. in and out settings i dunno its in the settings menu someplace, if it were infront of me i could find it in a instant i just dont know the lables for the menu's. Check the manual it will tell you. Make sure you find out what number it is for teh sr mafs. Then use taht number on the in and out the out which tells the safc to use that voltage range in and convert it to that voltage range or w\e on the out. Set the same numbers in and out and there is no conversion in the signal.

but when you install z32 mafs you will need to put the z32 mafs input on the IN side and the sr mafs number on the output so you can use the factory tuned ecu with a z32 mafs.

I'm 100% sure it was the correct RPM wire... Maybe it's not working because I still have a SOHC cluster so no tach?? IDK

Anyway I changed the in/out settings to the 6in/6out for the SR and the car runs how it did before I installed the SAFC so I'm happy.

Now I just need to get the water temp gauge working and get the exhaust hooked up and I'll be G2G.

Niga say what??

...one is not a fan of the SAFC. For what it is, it's a waste of money IMO. You could have gotten a bikirom for about the same amount and had total control over your ecu. They work when you want to add a bit more fuel or change your air flow meter but for the money, you could have had more.

u coming out tonight big boi

I don't think so.. I still don't have a Speedometer, Tach, or Water temp gauge working + I have a bunch of trim and pieces that need to get put back together.

If you want to see the car Jeremy give me a call and maybe we can meet up and I'll take ya for a spin. :bigthumbu

SAFCII? I thought you were gonna "do it right the first time" lol. ;)

safc sucks horribly. it works but sucks horribly.

sohc cluster dose not mean anything, if you have it spliced in at the ecu plug.

You just need to know how to use it. It's not that bad...

Im pretty sure I know everything about how the safc works and how to operate it so you get the best tune possible. If you understood how much it alters timing with its correction factor you would like it either. Not to mention it cant hold a solid afr if its life depended on it, always fluxuating with in .2 of target. You will realize this once you use a better system.

^^Like what megasquirt? lmao.. half the guys i know with megasquirts have trouble getting there cars to run period. plz, i know people with ka's + afc + enthalpy or jwt tuned ecu's making in the 5's hp range. They dont have a problem with afr.

Im not ignoring that a standalone is better and allows for better fine tunning. but an afc is sufficient. Specially for Kenrik who has a pretty much stock sr...
